Needed a distraction. Started scribbling stuff for Lost Pages again.
Okay, I sorta forgot about this: While I’m focussing on getting the player character done right, I also stumbled further down the path concerning various things in Unity. Like floating books with swirly bookmark tails (right now they just follow the player, need to research AI movement more), glowy bits that activate when the player gets near them and some other stuff.
Like why Blender butchered my first fbx-files so much: Turns out there is this tiny button next to the scale (And you know this is Blender because there is always that one button that solves everything but is so easy to miss)...
Actual concept art thingie for player character. Also, “Lost Pages” sounded like a better working title than Desert Library, considering the main mechanic will be collecting books.
Now all I have to do is somehow build this properly in 3d. *internal wilhelm screaming intensifies*
Not really a concept drawing. Still looking for a right way to make her tattoos work. How does a water mage function in a desert anyway?
Using Blender for scribbling areas makes things a little easier. Not sure though if I like the tiled look for the starting area.
In other news: There may be a slight lull in updates in the near future. My workload sorta doubled recently.
Still has the wonky run cycle but I managed to add a particle system which only activates when running (and when walking/turning with less particles). Though that leaves me with the question what should happen when the ground isn’t sand? Guess I’ll have to figure out something for that.
I must say though, I really like the sash and ponytail with the dynamic joints, this really helps cut down my work (when it works and does not explode).
Note to self: Tilt upper body forward for run cycle lest you want the character to look like it hops around like a desert bunny. Stil work in progress.
Getting...somewhere? Still need to fix some parts here and there. Found a nice way to model the bandages with shrinkwarp and solidify modifiers. Clothing still work in progress.
Also, this was more or less a year ago. Progress or somesuch thing.
