Early summer vibes
Desert willow (Chilopsis linearis) blooming in Garden Wash at San Pedro House. The leaves on desert willows are narrow and willowy, but this lovely desert tree is not a true willow at all, but a member of the Bignoniaceae, the plant family that includes jacaranda, catalpa trees, and trumpet vines. Its elongated seed capsules and showy flowers are a clue to the family association.
At the San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area, Cochise County, Arizona.

Desert Willow flowers, which are no bigger than your little finger blooming on a Desert Willow tree growing in my back yard in the early morning with the sun shinning behind them in Tucson, Arizona. Technie Note: This was shot with a film Pentax 645 using a 120 F4 marco lens on a tripod.
