“I’d like to talk to your brothers alone, please. It wouldn’t do you any good to go in without getting the context and preparing some notes first, in case you have questions.”
“… Fine,” Omega conceded, dejected. Mayday’s smile widened, and he nodded for her to go. Omega took her bag and the data pad next to it, heading off towards the library wing of the museum.
Mayday’s smile dropped the second her back was turned. The commander glanced around the landing pad, checking again to make sure the coast was clear. “Inside,” he said, quickly making for the ship.
“Where are Tarris Lok and the Vretha system?” Tech asked. “I’ve never heard of them.”
“That’s because I made them up,” Mayday muttered, going up the ramp into the Marauder. The four of them glanced at each other, silent communication passing between them before they quickly followed the commander in, sealing the door behind them.
Mayday poked around the ship, sliding his fingers along crevices and grooves as he inspected the hold. “Does the kid have any tricks up her sleeve, any recorders or cams she might hide in here when she wants to snoop?”
“No,” Tech said. “I or Hunter would have found them by now.”
“You’re positive?”
“Mayday, what’s going on? What do you know about Hemlock that’s so bad Omega has to be kept entirely in the dark?”
“What type of war crimes do you tell a child about?”

"I'm going to make an edit of Mulan and Shan Yu, but I don't think anyone will like it."
Reality:
Minor Perrigin "...has the countenance, and otherwise the appearance of a scoundrel—this is the third time of his desertion." (Maybe stop letting him back in the Army??)
And of course his brother Jacob, who "speaks seldom & slow, has a down roguish countenance, and cannot possibly look an honest man in the face." If he looks you in the face you're either dishonest or not a man! (Cracking some eggs, helpfully).
The high school's a front for Yakuza. Everyone, everyone knows it
“the future’s disarmingly bright”
It’s so easy to fall for easy paths, for the things that feel good and take no effort. It’s part of why o ended up in a cult, why anyone ends up in a cult, it’s the connection with other people, feeling you have this community that understands you better than anyone else, only to eventually learn that’s not quite true. If you’re lucky like I was, you can get out with just a little effort, but if you’ve already dedicated yourself to this, if you’ve already lost any outside support, then it might be easier to tell yourself better days are coming, whether you believe that or not.
