Pros And Cons Of Graphic Design €œSpec € Work
If subconscious self work in the graphic shift industry it is likely that you have come across requests for €spec€ work in the antiquated. If her didn't understand the term, you might have aforesaid quite the contrary without really mental act about it or said straw vote and found yourself thrown into the worst nightmare that you could have imagined. Why amplitude this occur him ask? Because €spec€ (or speculative) work is a think in which the client wants versus see a finished piece before they accept to patch together a real wages.<\p>
Pros<\p>
Whilst most who fill the bill in expositive procedure aren't overmuch elated with doing €spec€ screed, there is no denying that there are a few benefits associated with undertaking a project as representing free.<\p>
Upping to clients each over the world without end (especially when entering a contest) with an equal playing battleground for universe designers. The expertness to pick and choose which projects you would like to work on and which you would per contra leave. The problematicness to good some quantities needed experience, especially if you are just starting passing strange. A fortuity in put in up your gavel a little bit (this is reputable if you are starting out or lack certain aspects). A chance to gain a small monetary guerdon for your work, undulant if you have just undertaken the project for picnic. The opportunity to generate more knock off ex those who have seen your entry or hosted the competition.<\p>
Cons<\p>
€spec€ work is an section of graphoanalytic sketch out that ruck people feel very strongly about. In most cases, designers will avoid taking on €spec€ projects like the plague because him believe there are many things mortal sin irregardless not an illusion.<\p>
It devalues the holograph planning industry, as many clients start to believe that i myself can always receive free engrossment. There is a lot of work involved for the project to obtain completed coupled with the chanciness in relation with very little (if any) pay off. There is no immunity or legal precaution as representing the pursuit, meaning that it thunder mug be plagiarized therewith other designers. The designs that win are based solely on the client's personal tastes, not on the proficiency in re the designer. There is veritable taste answer with the client, which can hinder your ability to fix top brass with work that meets their requirements. It can prove to exist extremely time consuming and may even take no more time from your paid projects.<\p>
The next time you are approached by a client who is looking for someone to stew some €spec€ incarnating design work, what probate your answer be? A front oddball no, outstandingly at one swoop that self realize exactly what €spec€ work entails? A prudent yes, especially if my humble self don't beget superabundant else going on? Whilst there is nothing unblessed with undertaking €spec€ giveaway every now and then, number one be obliged avoid doing it altogether often, as inner self can be a rut that is incontestable to pinpoint clearly of.<\p>
A New Life Awaits in the Chinese Sea Colonies
First they take the South China Sea, then the galaxy…
China’s current terraforming activities and proposed designs for cities and vehicles provide an excellent way to expand their territory and power not just within its nearby waters, but also beyond Earth. Creating new land and living in ever more hostile environments, such as beneath the ocean and in orbit, allows it to continue to develop its industrial base and fully leapfrog the first world nations to become an off-world one.

We start our look in the present. At this piece by the BBC “China’s Island Factory“, which examines how China’s economic rise and development as a naval power is driving its need to acquire a legitimate hold in territory it had previously laid claim to, but not enforced. By deploying its freshly minted navy to contest existing claims by neighbours such as Vietnam and the Philippines. And by manufacturing islands:

The Ent-er-net of the Wild Things
Unlike traditional electronics, which are made of silicon wafers mounted on boards etched with circuitry, a new generation of printable (and sometimes bendable) electronics are made in the same way as a newspaper—by depositing an ink-like substance on a thin film (hence the name) made of a type of plastic commonly used for soft drink bottles. The result is a sheet of electronics that can be over a kilometer long, is cheap and flexible, and can be embedded into everything from clothes to food packaging. Thinfilm’s electronic tags cost between 2 and 5 cents each when bought in bulk, says Sutija. That’s anywhere from a sixth to a tenth of the cost of a traditional microcontroller (a low-power computer chip). Some of these, such as electronics on packaging, communicate their information visually, for example by changing color or using a small display screen. Others, which need to connect to machines, use near-field-communication (NFC), a radio standard that allows data transfer. Using NFC, your bag of lettuce could signal to your smart fridge that it’s past its best. The uses for these simple, single-purpose electronics are endless.
The fake tree stands on a mound in the forest, fresh thin electronic leaves budding for the new season, ready to drift on the winds and tag the wild, hooking feather and fur with fractal burs. Sync with monitor bushes that mark the entrances to ancient animal trails. Logging stones by watering holes and river crossings. Algorithmically generating bridges between habitat zones as predator:prey ratios hit metrics computed daily against a thousand year restoration plan. Suburb by fallen suburb the guardian trees march forward, periodically offering up a branch to be carried onwards by eaglesque drones, establishing a new ward in the debris of industrial civilization. Beaming progress reports every decade to the generation ships headed to the Sirius system. Reminding them to do better this time.
With Farm Robotics, the Cows Decide When It’s Milking Time - NYTimes.com:
“It just clicked,” said Susan Borden, Tom Borden’s 24-year-old daughter. “One day we came in and they had started milking themselves.”
Sure enough, on a recent Friday, the Bordens stood watch as cows lined up in front of the closet-size devices; each quietly allowed the machine to wash and scan its underbelly with lasers before attaching mechanical milk cups.
The cows ate the whole time, then moved along when the machine was finished. Nearby, another new device, a Roomba-style robot, pushed feed toward cows who lounged in a pen or lay on straw mats.
“We’re the most disruptive thing in here,” Mr. Borden said.
How do you fund deextinction and the rewilding of ecosystems forward to their next-natural state? What if you can make it pay for itself?
What if you can farm the rewilding with robots???

The first Boskarin cattle have now been released in the Velebit mountains. Part of the Taurus program to resurrect Europe’s only recently extinct ancient cattle:
The aurochs stands at the very roots of the whole idea of our continent but was sadly driven to its extinction by man. Luckily, it can also be brought back by man. In 2008, the Taurus Foundation decided to give the re-breeding of the aurochs a serious try. It has since grown into a joint effort together with Rewilding Europe and the Dutch organization ARK Nature. The end result will look like an aurochs, live like an aurochs, behave, eat, mate, defecate and eventually die like an aurochs. For the time being, this animal will be called the Tauros, the Greek word for the bull.

Take a flight to Titan. Take a flight on Titan. Stay forever and live as an Angel.
Lerman and two classmates factored in the density of air at the surface of Titan, gravity, and the ratio of the path of the air above the wing to that below the wing. The students calculated that a person would need to run at a speed of 36 feet per second (11 meters per second) if they wanted to take flight wearing a normal-sized wingsuit with an area of about 15 square feet (1.4 square meters).
That running speed is quite daunting considering that Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt, the fastest man on Earth, achieves speeds only slightly higher (just over 40 feet per second, or 12 m/s).
To lift off by running at a more manageable speed of about 20 feet per second (6 m/s), a person would need to wear a more unwieldy wingsuit with a surface area more than three times larger than the normal size, the students said.
Their paper was published in the University of Leicester's Journal of Physics Special Topics, which features short articles written by students to help get them acquainted with the peer-review process.
Many of the papers test bizarre or pop culture-inspired scenarios, such as an article published last year that examined what traveling through hyperspace would really look like.
For extra credit, update the terrestrial math on the required morphology here for the posthuman near future life on the Saturnian retreat.
A functional wing is, sadly, out of the question. Humans lack the shoulder joint and massive muscles that millions of years of evolution gave modern birds. Wing loading is another killer requirement. Modern birds need at least a square centimetre of wing area for every 4 grams of body mass, so an 80-kilogram human would need two square metres of wing.
But an arm might be converted to a decorative wing. Poore suggests modelling it on the wing of Archaeopteryx, the earliest bird, which had a shoulder much closer to humans than the shoulders of better-flying modern birds.
First, fuse the outer set of wrist bones and the hand bones to create a bird-like carpometacarpus, the third bone in a chicken wing. The thumb remains free, like the alula that helps guide bird flight, but other fingers would be fused together.
Next, rearrange the muscle and skin to allow articulation of the new bone arrangement.
Things get tricky when it comes to feathering the wings. Hair grows in different skin layers to feathers and the two consist of different types of keratin. No one knows how to convert one to the other.
Yet.
MY GOAL STATEMENT, AOI & DESIGN SPECIFICATION
GOAL STATEMENT:
Some children in Jakarta don't have the privilege to watch movies because they don't have enough money to watch movies. These children that I have just mentioned, are mostly orphans. Orphans are children that have been abandoned, and there are a lot in Jakarta. Orphanages have limited funding and resources, thus orphans cannot watch movies. It is important for them to watch certain movies, because certain movies contain great orphans should hear morals that I believe. So my goal is to bring the orphans to watch an Indonesian family movie with good morals. The movie that I will be showing will be an Indonesian movie. The reason why the movie is in Indonesian is because it gives a sense of nationalism (All Indonesians should be proud that our country can produce movies with great and inspirational morals). Another reason why the movie should be in Indonesian is because, if the movie is in English, I am pretty sure that the kids are not going to have any idea what the character is saying and what the moral was; which is the main point of doing this project. I intend to get donations from students of Binus International School Simprug and other people from my environment. I also intend to make a garage sale to get funds for my personal project. With this personal project, I hope that orphan children can understand certain topics such as the following:
To be grateful for their present, learn from their past and look forward to their future.
To always be nice.
To be respectful to one another.
I believe that i should do this project because, i believe that all children should get the privilege to watch movies as it is a fun way to learn morals & other things that are important for them to learn and to have the privilege of having fun.
AOI
The AOI that I linked to my personal project is, “Community and Service”. According to the IB website (www.ibo.org);
” Community and service starts in the classroom and extends beyond it, requiring students to take an active part in the communities in which they live.”
Some questions that we will have to think about in this AOI are the following,
How do we live in relation to others?
How can I contribute to the community?
How can I help others?
I believe that my personal project (visitation to orphanages and give them the privilege of watching a movie with good morals) can answer those three questions above. My project is a way of relating to others because, all kids, be it elementary kids to high school kids, love watching movies. In addition to that, my project contributes good and crucial morals to people who cant afford or do not have the privilege to watch movies.
The reason why i chose this AOI is because, I believe that community and service is a way to share your knowledge to people aside from ourselves, be it your classmates or the less fortunate. My personal project is a way to help people learn morals in a different way.
THE DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS:
My final project (the design of the visitation of the orphanage that will give them a movie night) should include a kid appropriate movie, the movie should have subtitles, the movies resolution must be good (quality of the picture), some food or snacks and a game to test their knowledge of the movie. There should be a movie because, it is a movie night and having a movie for them is an easy way to learn good morals in an efficient way. In addition to that, their should also be subtitles because the orphans might not catch the words the character might be saying so if that happens, they wouldn't be clueless because they can read what they said with the subtitles. The picture quality of my movie should also be very high because if the picture resolution of the movie isn't high, then the movie will seam stretched and pix-elated. If this happens, the movie isn't going to be so good, aesthetically because a stretched movie looks really bad. If the movie isn't aesthetically good, I'm afraid that the orphans will loose interest and not pay attention to the moral that is trying to be conveyed. There should also be food because the children might get hungry and would get distracted from the movie by their hunger, but there is a disadvantage because the orphans might see the food before its their actual time to eat which causes them to want to eat their food before the movie which would mean that they wouldn't concentrate on the movie either. Lastly, there has to be a game to test their knowledge of the movie. This should be included because; the main point of this personal project is to have the orphans learn the morals. Having a game about the movie is the perfect way to test if the moral is in their heads.
