Hi, my name is Lilly! Beneath my obvious fish-and-marine-life-obsession, I am a cat-lover, pineapple-on-pizza-enthusiast, all-time-volunteer, art-explorer, sometimes the mom-friend in the group, book-collector and energy-spreader. I can do all sorts of things, which doesnt necessarily mean I enjoy them. Don't ask me to design your tattoo. I love weird music, spending time alone, organizing things and being efficient. If you listen closely, you can hear me making weird noises. For the future I wish to make a difference in an environmental issue and that my work contributes in saving the world.

To all designers, aspiring or otherwise, I need your help!
I am currently doing my master thesis around sustainable design because for me all design thinking should be sustainable design thinking. We as designers quite literally make the future, so we should think about what kind of future we want to make.
Although most designers will probably (hopefully) agree with me that we have to move towards more sustainable design practices, it isn’t always easy to know what that means, and even harder to put into practice or to reconcile it with all the other things our designs should meet.
And that is precisely where it goes wrong, sustainable design is not about choosing one over the other, it’s about fitting ALL the puzzle pieces on the board, but we can’t do that if we work within the boundaries of our current systems. So how can we change our mindset to design a more sustainable future?
And this is the part where you come in : to understand what goes wrong with sustainable design today, I want to know how YOU approach sustainable design today, so reblog/comment below or send me a message here answering the following questions:
to all designers:
What do you think sustainable design means?
What do you think are the limitations right now and what would you like to see changed?
How do you factor in sustainability when you are designing?
Even if you don’t factor it in at all, tell me why!
And to all aspiring designers:
How is sustainability taught at your school? Or how have you learned about sustainability and sustainable design?
Is it something you think about? Why or why not?
Has it been easy learning about it? Do you feel like your school could do more?
And off course also what do you think sustainability is? Do you feel like it's impossible to reconcile with other requirements?
If you are not a designer you can always help me by sharing this message, or if you have thoughts as well feel free to chime in!.
Thank you in advance for helping and have a free virtual world chocolate for your trouble ;)
