Jenkins-Stireman Breathes New Light into the National Museum of Wildlife Art
As anyone who has watched the sun rise and set on the National Elk Refuge can attest, light not only illuminates the extraordinary art inside, it creates an individual experience. Light is to art what breath is to life. So when it came time to redesign the interior of the National Museum of Wildlife Art, local designer Jacque Jenkins-Stireman decided to focus on the light, upgrading the visitor experience as well as expression of world renown artists, whose work is on display.
New lighting, rich wood details and warm neutral colors found in the natural landscape were incorporated to create a fluid transition from the cozy Member’s gallery to the large picture windows overlooking the Elk Refuge.
“Our objective was to make material selections and design decisions that would come together to create a cohesive, current and inviting experience for visitors and employees. The Museum is an architectural masterpiece and without any major interior renovations for some time, our team was excited to help make the space current but keeping true to the Museum’s traditional values,” says Stireman-Jenkins.
