OK this is a very far guess but the bangles and lehenga is prompting me too look at this direction but the way there's no bindi and the head ornament is very...vauge so it might be some other similar culture i suppose??

They're going to Kolkata lol. She is a Desi person. (DW YOU'LL MEET MANY DESIS IN THIS SECTION. IT WAS BEAUTIFUL SEEING THIS). The no bindi part is most likely because she's on an English ship, so not being english they weren't really allowed to wear English things (HISTORY LESSON WOAH). But removing the Bindi and all is her trying to be English in a way.

  omg I forgot you asked me this. hi desi. anyways the book is called the Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath. if you haven't read it before, then you should because it's a really nice book.

lol Des remember that one time I was dyeing my hair and I opened the directions and you were getting the dye ready and I looked really confused and mad and you were like "what" and I was like THEY FUCKED UP AND GAVE ME ALL THE DIRECTIONS IN SPANISH OMG HOW AM I GONNA DO THIS NOW UGH and you came over and flipped them to the English side and walked away and I was just like "oh"
