     The girl seemed almost in awe at something Aaron regarded as trivial. He lifted his eyebrows, faintly amused. “It’s a fucking sign.” He scoffed. “What’s it gonna do--arrest me?” And it wasn’t as if there were any busybodies around, keeping vigilant watch for offenders. 

     He gave no fucks about it and took another draw on the cigarette.

"Yeah..." Bucky is comfortably quiet, sprawled out in bed, half tangled in the sheets. His expression is one of peace and bliss, graced by the dopiest of smiles when Credence breaks the silence.

"I was bad at it," he adds, grinning.

    “Hey! Did you miss me?” Circe doesn’t have a chance to respond because before she can, Eve is handing over a bag filled with souvenirs from her travels. “I brought you gifts from tour!”

          There was no way that what Ben just witnessed was something a normal human could do. He wasn’t quite sure if the girl had noticed his presence yet, but one way or another he had to figure out how to get her attention without scaring her off.

          As far as he knew, there were no warrants out for any arrests on Earth, and there had been no recent reports on any suspicious alien activity -- so chances were, this girl was totally innocently minding her own business and Ben had no professional reasons to figure out what her deal was, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t curious.

          Plus, look at who you’re dealing with. Even if Ben suspected this girl was a completely ordinary Earthling, a pretty face like THAT couldn’t keep him away for long.

          With the possibility of ‘ordinary’ out of the way, Ben decided that a direct approach might be his best option.

          “Now, this might sound like an odd question, but something tells me you’re used to hearing this sort of thing anyway . . . are you, perhaps --” and he used air quotes to emphasize the phrase, “ ‘ not of this world’ ?”

   “Come over here!” Per her demand, the little mechanical mouse comes running back to her side. He then runs up her leg until he ends up perched on her shoulder. As she pets his head she mumbles. “I swear, he acts like he wants to be stepped on.”
