So...I now have a keyboard fetish...
Well...maybe not fetish, but I can't think of a better word...
I'll put my desks and my keyboards under the cut so you all can see the absolute shittery I do with my personal space vs. my work space.
Work Space/Desk
As you can see, everything has a place. Things are tidy. I added that candle (it smells of coconut and amber...which is fucking amazing to say the least), and I just...have a whole evil purple thing going...despite all the Post-It notes reminding me of mundane shit. Sunglasses are for when I'm feeling light sensitive. Happens often. Monitors are set all the way to lowest settings for brightness and some contrast, but...still bothers me from time to time. Fan that I can hold up and stuff so that I can stay cool if I need that sensory (I know it sounds weird, but the sound and the feeling are relaxing to me at times). Shout out to my desk friends, TARDIS, Ding-Ding, BSG USB port, Chibi Cthulhu, another TARDIS, and a tiny rocket ship that I got out of a bath bomb, but I still find very adorable. My keyboard is a Keychron K4, which is also called a 96% board. It has a plastic body, but is super streamline and perfect for what I need/want it for. Perfect layout, perfect Gateron Linear Reds, perfect white backlight that I've programmed to light up and slowly fade under each key as it's struck. I've done a simple tape mod on it to dampen the sound and the keycaps were like...made for me, honestly. lol. Not literally, but... I bloody love it.
Personal Space/Desk
Personal desk is pretty much a shit hole. This is relatively clean for me. There's various old iPods sprawled across my desk, that woven basket next to my monitor is filled with various types of earbuds, both IEMs and wireless. The mug has Mountain Lion, which is a store brand Mountain Dew from Food Lion which...I'm addicted to. Behind those boxes of Welch's Fruit Snacks is another woven basket containing nothing except sensory toys for myself. Squishy, slow rise things. They're quite lovely actually. Desk Buddies are The Doctor, Sarah Jane Smith, Donna Noble, The Doctor, and Bill. There's another Sarah Jane and a Dalek up there as well as a tiny Wonder Woman, who is usually on my work desk. My keyboard is a Keychron Q3 with a knob that I just got yesterday. I switched the stock keycaps and did a couple of simple mods (both with painters' tape) so that it doesn't sound so ping-tastic (which makes the sound because of the metal housing). This is a metal build and super heavy (like...around 5lbs). I'm in love with it and has been an absolute JOY to type on. I actually look forward to typing things at the moment. Currently there's Gateron Pro Red switches in here (Hot-Swap board), but I may be changing those in the near future. I have a sweet spot for Tiffany-stem Tealios switches or NovelKeys Creams. Haven't quite decided which yet, but I'm a fan of either honestly after trying them on my switch tester. Bloody gorgeous keyboard and I recommend it highly, despite the recent price increase by the company.
I feel like my inner...whatever can be very much seen with the difference between these two desks. My personal one, like my mind, is messy AF. Absolute shit show. My work one is focused, on point, top of her game.
It's so weird that I CONTINUE to do that even when I'm doing a job where I'm not face-to-face with people.
