it’s so refreshing to see someone finally speaking up for the issues of representation in comics that really matter 🥹 male survivors are such an underrepresented group and it’s so rare that their trauma ever gets talked about!

of course my friend 🫡 in a world where everyone unconditionally supports fictional women no matter what, especially black and brown women, we need disciplined men-loving warriors to remind people that women are also bad. marv wolfman, grant morrison, devin grayson, robert kirkman and many other visionaries urge us to look past our biases which support brown-skinned women and instead acknowledge that they can do bad things too.

Something I think's interesting is how The Martian speaks with this odd, slightly surreal grammer, showing how he's a foreign element to John's world that's come to convey strange new ideas, whereas Despair-0 just talks like a regular person.

yeah! d-0 is a total inversion of the martian in every area possible, and i like that that extends to its speech patterns. the martian’s dialogue is stilted, weird, and grammarless because it needs to be an outsider to get across its messages. to show john that there is another way outside of the systems he’s been working in his entire life. despair-the-zero, on the other hand, is an intrusive thought. a harmful impulse. those operate on one’s understanding of society and how those systems work in order to understand what would be the worst possible thing to say or do in that moment. d-0 HAS to talk like a normal person because otherwise its fucked up little quips wouldn’t work as effectively.
