Sharing about inspirational homegrown startups that I admire is what kindles my passion to post here the most. Allow me to offer my praise for @bakedbyadelle - a home Japanese cafe that offers premium quality pastries. This online shop's consistency & identity that isn't compromising is what really struck me. From the packaging (eco-conscious), personalized postcard (japanese-themed) to the pastries (no preservatives or artificial colors), you can feel the heart & soul of adelle, who strives for perfection. The Lemon Pound Cake (220php/4inch) is minimalistically beautiful w/ its smooth melt-in-your-mouth sweet glaze garnished w/ a slice of lemon & a sprig of rosemary. The lemon pound texture that's light, soft & moist w/ real lemon zest bits is a nice contradiction to the fragrant & refreshingly clean lemon flavor. The Dark Chocolate Cake (370php) is the richest darkest bittersweet ganache-topped moist chocolate cake we've tried locally yet! (swipe to see its chocolatey goodness!) Its daringly exudes of the rich premium cocoa flavor rather than the sweetness. (Its actually close to our favorite SG brand 'awfully chocolate' hehe.☺️) Overall, it's a pleasure to know you adelle! As we've previously shared, we're a big fan of black forest cakes. When my sister chose @flourpotmanila 's black forest cake (2,800 php) as her birthday cake late last year, my family was so excited that they personally picked up this cake rather than let couriers handle it as we usually do. It did turn out memorable... just in an unexpected way as this became 1 of the very few cakes we never finished. Visually, it looks really appealing esp. w/ the fresh cherries on top. However, despite the rich dark color of the sponge cake, the chocolate flavor fell short. Neither was there any detectable hint of Kirsch Cherry Liqueur. 2 distinguishing features reigned this cake: 1) softness & fluffiness of the spongecake and 2) overall sweetness. While we loved the former, the sweetness of the sponge cake & whipped cream overpowering the flavors of the maraschino cherries & black cherry compote that accompanied the whipped cream layers hindered us from appreciating this cake. With so much online raves & top lists recommending this reknowned brand, I contemplated ordering another cake from them before posting this. But, while browsing for my upcoming bday cake, it just dawned on me that having experienced it once for such price is justified enough to give it an honest review so here it is. P.S.
