About a year ago (or maybe longer... 2 summers back... but in autumn?) I took a road trip through the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia for Travel+Leisure. In short, I love wine. I love BC wine in particular, so it was a dream story to shoot. Although some locations were decided upon, it was really an immersion in the environment and photograph-based-on feeling. I knew I wasn’t looking for a typical tipsy-wine-travel look with backlit bubbly (I just came up with that). Something more grounded and maybe a bit timeless; speaking of the farming and the pace of life rather than overzealous rose sippers.
Anyway, enjoy! Full gallery on my site!
I made a short film about equanimity. I shot the footage last autumn while sailing on the coast of British Columbia for three weeks, solo for a short while. But it’s not really about sailing. Sailing is very much about equanimity, however. I wasn’t quite sure what it would become, but as with my stills photography, it’s the visceral that’s important, and then everything else falls into place. So here we are.
The music is an except of a song by Andrew Bird, someone who I’ve listened to earnestly for a very long time. It’s from an album called Echolocations: Canyon, an experimental instrumental album recorded in a canyon. I listen to it often, as it’s one of my favourite pieces of music ever recorded. I actually think he’s a genius. Without this music, this film would be a silent film.
Enjoy,
Kamil
