@rwashbr and I decided to get a good workout on the skinny boards today. 21km from the radar towers out to the crater over to 3Rox and back. That was a tough one! 🥴😪😵 Over 400m elevation gain to boot! It was a beautiful day. Cold but sunny. The forest was pretty busy .. lots of fat bikers out. A few families out sledding, too 😁😁😁😁 Only problem was some stupid headphone zombie who couldn't hear me yelling "LOOK OUT!" as I flying down a steep hill. Skis don't have brakes! If I had seen the headphones, I wouldn't have hit the snow instead of carrying through. What a gorgeous day! Running around in the early part but got some time to squeeze in 10km on the skinny boards. Heber Down is nice and close to home. It's flat and fairly fast for the most part, with some technical areas in the forest. At least this time, half the dog walkers had their pets leashed, but there are still irresonsible Tools who let the dog run free. So selfish of them to disregard others. Another magical day to be outside. It would be awesome if the dog owners would leash their pets and people would read the signs and stay off the ski tracks! 10+km of bipolar snow ... icy and fast in the shade, sticky and slow in the sun ... and 💯fun! It got so warm I had to ditch my toque. It felt great to only wear a couple of thin layers ... no bulk! A fair number of people enjoying the 6° temps, including this Hairy Tailed, or Brewsters, Mole. It was a crisp but spectacular 9-10km on my skis today. A few degrees below zero with a frigid wind, the sun was welcome when it poked through the clouds. It would be great if other trail users ... like fat bikers and snowshoers ... would read the signs and respect the ski tracks. I have notoriously cold fingers, but not this year. These @kombicanada gloves are really amazing. Gore Windstopper works perfect and the soft lining is insanely warm. I can't recommend these enough. You can find them at Sail Outdoors. Odd to see a Bell Canada steel plate out on the forest... there's an underground phone line through here. I followed the "Poetry Loop" today ... "The Cremation of Sam McGee" by Robert W. Service. The Green Durham Association @greendurhamassociation created this fun way of discovering the forest. It's like a low tech "geocache". Nice job GDA! Another gorgeous Sunday to be outdoors. @russell_styles and I got the skinny boards out for a fun 5.75km trip around McLaughlin Bay. The clouds were spectacular😍😍😍 ... someone lost a lure I'm a tree ... the lake looked REALLY rough out from shore - those swells are massive.
