Woman Vs. Machine:
The sky above Manhattan cracked with emerald lightning. Citizens looked upward in terror as a colossal figure strode between the skyscrapers.
Giganta.
At nearly one hundred feet tall, the giantess towered over the city like a living mountain. Her red hair whipped through hurricane-force winds while her footsteps shook the streets below.
"Out of my way!" she shouted. "I've got unfinished business with the Justice League!"
Before anyone could answer, a beam of golden light erupted from the heavens. The clouds split apart. Something descended.
Not a person.
Not a god.
A weapon.
The Asgardian Destroyer Armor struck the ground with enough force to crater several city blocks. The enchanted metal giant slowly rose from the smoking rubble, its featureless face staring up at Giganta.
The giantess folded her arms. "Seriously? Thor sends an empty suit of armor?" The Destroyer's faceplate suddenly opened. A blinding torrent of cosmic energy exploded forth. Giganta barely crossed her arms before the beam struck her.
BOOOOOOM!
She was blasted backward through three skyscrapers. Glass rained across Manhattan. Giganta growled and pushed herself upright. "Okay. That's actually impressive." She charged. The streets shattered beneath her feet. The Destroyer met her head-on. The collision sounded like a meteor striking Earth. A shockwave rippled across the city. Windows exploded for miles.
Giganta threw the first punch. The Destroyer blocked. She threw a second. Then a third. Each blow carried enough force to level a mountain. The enchanted armor slid backward but refused to fall. Its metal fists hammered into Giganta's stomach.
The giantess staggered. "Not bad!" She grabbed the Destroyer's arm and hurled it into the Hudson River. The armor skipped across the water like a cannonball. Giganta smirked. Then the river exploded. The Destroyer launched skyward, propelled by mystical energy. It struck Giganta directly beneath the jaw.
The giantess crashed backward into Central Park. Entire sections of earth folded upward like waves. The Destroyer landed atop her and unleashed another energy blast directly into her face. The surrounding trees vanished instantly.
Giganta roared.
With a surge of strength, she wrapped both arms around the armor and squeezed. The enchanted metal groaned. Cracks appeared in the ground beneath them. The Destroyer responded by channeling its cosmic energies inward.
A sphere of golden fire erupted outward. The resulting explosion could be seen from orbit. Both combatants were launched in opposite directions. Giganta slammed into the side of a mountain hundreds of miles away.
The Destroyer crashed into the Atlantic Ocean. For several moments, neither moved. Then both rose again. Giganta laughed. The Destroyer silently floated back toward the battlefield. "You know," Giganta admitted, wiping blood from her lip, "most heroes give up by now."
The armor offered no reply. It simply attacked again. For hours the battle raged.
Across mountains.
Across oceans.
Across continents.
Giganta uprooted forests and swung entire sections of rock like clubs. The Destroyer endured everything. The armor unleashed enough mystical energy to vaporize battleships. Giganta absorbed the punishment and kept coming. Neither could gain a decisive advantage.
The Destroyer's enchantments made it nearly indestructible. Giganta's incredible size and metahuman resilience made her equally difficult to put down. As sunset turned the horizon crimson, the two titans found themselves standing amid the ruins of an uninhabited island in the North Atlantic.
Giganta was bruised. The Destroyer's armor was dented and scorched. Both were still standing. Both were still dangerous. Giganta cracked her knuckles. The Destroyer's faceplate glowed brighter than the sun. Then something unexpected happened. Neither attacked.
For the first time all day, they simply stared at one another. Giganta let out a tired laugh. "You're the most stubborn thing I've ever fought." The Destroyer remained motionless. A moment later, a bolt of rainbow light descended from the sky.
The Bifrost.
A distant voice echoed through the heavens. "Enough." The command carried the unmistakable authority of an Asgardian king. The Destroyer's faceplate dimmed. Its fists lowered. Giganta raised an eyebrow. "That's it?"
The armor turned toward the rainbow bridge. Before stepping into the light, it looked back at her. Just for a second. As though acknowledging a worthy opponent. Then it vanished. The island fell silent. Giganta sat down heavily on a broken cliffside and watched the sunset.
A grin slowly spread across her face.
"No Justice League."
"No Avengers."
"No gods."
"Just me and a giant magic can-opener." She laughed to herself. Far away, in the golden halls of Asgard, the Destroyer Armor stood once more at rest. Unbroken. Unconquered. And for perhaps the first time in centuries, it had found an opponent powerful enough to fight it to a true standstill.
“I predicted an #MROC tie-in could mean more Asgard for @MarvelChampions #MCOC in 2020. Remember Silver Surfer's mystery synergy slot? The DESTROYER armor has been a Herald of Galactus before. Armor Up? Walking Thorns Node?!? Want? Vote! https://t.co/rDBCGE3RbS Recent Rank: 39th”
I like these screenshots together, cuz the freaking Destroyer, Odin's secret weapon, flinches just as much for the Wasp as it does for Thor. Makes me smile. Plus Jan is the one who actually does damage, so you know, I'm glad. (No offense to Thor!Thor)
Somebody pissed off daddy.
