Salem’s oldest cemetery, Old Burying Point on Charter Street, was founded in 1637 and is the final resting place for several Salem residents. Located directly behind this cemetery is the Witch Trial Memorial. Inscribed in the stone threshold entering the Memorial are the victims’ protests of innocence. These protests are interrupted mid-sentence by the wall, symbolizing society’s indifference to oppression. Benches within the Memorial perimeter bear the names and the execution dates of each of the 20 victims - via salem.org / photos from our August 2017 visit 🕷 #tombstonetuesday #destsalem (at Salem Witch Trial Memorial) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bo_nGJbgsIB/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=khwg5s9iueo0
