a few episodes ago, Metatron slipped past holy fire. I think they are implying he can't be killed by conventional angel mythology stuff.

Yes, you're right! I forgot about that and the fact that he still has the angel tablets. So apparently he is more powerful than your average angel... But does that include getting stabbed by an angel blade? I guess it doesn't really matter because Dean will get to him with the First Blade and Metatron will be gone. At least that's what I'm hoping for... ;)
