MORE DETECTIVE AU MOOOOORE😭
Now y'all want what I have to offer smh 😪. Anyways, here ya go:
“We come baring gifts,” the detective says as she and Anya finally enter the autopsy room.
The sound of her wife’s voice causes Clarke to look up from the case file she had been carefully studying. She smiles at the sight of her wife and her smile grows wider when she notices the bag of candy resting in the detective’s palm.
“Ooh, M&M’s, my favorite,” the medical examiner says before placing a kiss on Lexa’s cheek and snatching the bag of candy out of her hand.
She eagerly opens the snack and pops a few of the candies into her mouth before leading the other two women to the nearby autopsy table where their victim was lying on his stomach. His skin was morbidly pale with a slight blueish tint to it – a byproduct of spending an exorbitant amount of time in the freezer.
The doctor nonchalantly downs a few more M&M’s before using her pinky finger to point to the large gash on the man’s back as she begins to explain:
“See this puncture wound? At first glance, this injury along with the bloody handprint we found on the handle of the knife that was recovered at the scene suggests that the victim was stabbed in the back.”
“Okay, so our victim was attacked from behind, that doesn’t tell us anything new,” Anya says frustratedly.
“Except he wasn’t attacked from behind,” Clarke exclaims with a kind of spark in her eye that she only gets when she’s found out something very important.
“Hold these,” Clarke says, passing her bag of sweets to Anya before moving to grab the evidence bag containing the murder weapon.
“Here,” the medical examiner says as she hands her wife the large kitchen knife before turning so her back was facing the detective.
“You know I hate doing this,” Lexa complains.
“I know but it’s for science…now stab me, please.”
Lexa sighs and rolls her eyes before lining her hand up with the bloody print on the weapon. She slowly brings the knife down and stops right before it can make contact with her wife’s scrubs.
“This is how I thought the victim was stabbed but when I took a closer look at his x-rays I noticed something. There was a nick on the inside of the manubrium which means its likely that the weapon would’ve had to travel through the fourth intercostal spaces and deep enough to leave that mark on the manubrium.”
“What does that mean in English?”
Anya asks as she tries to decode whatever it is the doctor had just told them. Clarke’s mind works so fast that she often leaves others in the dust.
“It means if he was stabbed in the back the mark is too high and based on the handprints, the way the murderer was holding the knife wouldn’t allow for the the manubrium to be nicked,” Clarke answers.
“So, how was he killed if he wasn’t stabbed from behind?”
Lexa asks curiously from her spot behind Clarke who quickly tells her to lay down on the ground.
The detective asked annoyed.
“Yes,” Clarke answers curtly, not skipping a beat.
Lexa huffs and puffs as she find her way onto the floor and Anya does her best to hold back laughter at the sight of her partner so annoyed. It gets increasingly difficult for the profiler to hold back her giggles when she watches the medical examiner mount the detective, causing her cheeks to tinge pink.
“The only explanation for the injuries sustained is that the victim was on top of the murderer when he was stabbed. Face to face. Just like this,” Clarke informs them and prompts her wife to once again pretend to impale her.
“So, there’s a chance our victim isn’t actually a victim and that whoever killed him did so in self defense. Good job, Clarke,” Anya says with deep admiration lacing her voice as her mind begins to craft a profile of the murderer.
“No one told me you guys were off getting kinky down here,” says the loud and unmistakeable voice of Raven Reyes.
“Detective,” Raven greets with a sly smile as she watches the woman’s pink cheeks turn an even darker shade of red.
“What do you need, Reyes?”
Lexa asks as she scrambles back up to her feet, trying her best to compose herself.
“Just thought I’d let you know our John Doe isn’t a John Doe anymore. I just got a match in missing persons.”
Finally, they were getting somewhere with this case.
