This is not how this was supposed to go, things were fine, everything was fine; but they missed one.
They were called to the scene, four (4) men holding people hostage. Gavin and a few other officers managed to take down the capters, helping free the hostages as they were ushered out quickly. That's when Gavin saw him, they'd missed one; he acted as quick as he could, getting in the way of the man, wrestling him to the ground so the hostages could escape. Suddenly all he could hear was ringing, his abdomen burning and his shoulder stinging, he couldn't feel his arm. He fell off the man onto his back, one arm wrapping around his midwaist as he gasped for air, the other lying limply beside him. He barely heard the other officers yelling over the sound of sirens and ringing in his ears. He looked to the door, seeing blurred figures of Alex and Hank running towards him, red and blue light whirring behind them. This was the last thing he saw before blacking out.
He should have died.
When he finally came to, he found himself in a hospital room, machines surrounding him; he has an oxygen mask on, why? Why did he hurt all over, every inch of his body aching like he'd been hit by a freight train.
He glanced down to his the arm he could feel, 'that explains why it hurts,' he thinks as he sees 3 different IV's in the one arm. This is all he could take in before having to close his eyes again, the light coming on bright. He would have sworn if his throat didn't feel so fucking dry. He reopened his eyes slowly, giving them time to readjust to the light. Things were still blurry, but he could tell who was here- it was Alex. Tina had come in to get him, "I'm not leaving this room," he says sternly to her. She sighs and makes her leave, she can be heard explaining to the doctors why Alex NEEDS to stay. Gavin didn't really have any immediate family who could stay with him, Alex was the closest one to him.
After she had left, Gavin turned his head to face Alex, trying to make out his face through his eyes blur, "What.." it came out hoarse, it didn't sound like him, "what happened?" He asked, hoping Alex could fill him in.
