It's almost like having a pet, Peter thinks, though dog jokes are usually beneath him. It's fitting, though, the way Derek follows him around with his wide, old eyes and looks at Peter with an entirely undeserved devotion. Peter begins to really think of it that way as Derek grows, and the clinginess continues. It's devotion, like Derek thinks of Peter as some kind of god.

Derek x Peter (Teen Wolf) Rated: Teen Word Count: 3.5K Tags: Bad Parent/Alpha Talia Hale, Derek Hale Angst, Angst with a Happy Ending (happy being relative...), Violent Peter Hale but no graphic violence

Summary: That cold, frigid emptiness inside of him was where his wolf should’ve been. With spells and a Nemeton and the darkness of a new moon, Derek’s wolf was gone - given to Peter.

Derek was human, while Peter would never be human again.

Feral, his mother said with a voice so, so gentle. Too much wolf for one soul. It wasn’t like a natural influx of power when becoming an Alpha; it was another wolf, a merging of two, an abomination that was never meant to exist.

Peter was gone. Peter was feral.

Peter was dead, because while he’d ran before Derek’s mother and Alpha was forced to bestow a mercy killing, eventually hunters or other wolves would catch and kill him. It had to be done, and hopefully before Peter slaughtered innocents because he was out of his mind, unable to control himself. It was only a matter of time.

At least Derek would be spared the pain of feeling that death, his mother assured. He couldn’t feel the breaking of a bond he didn’t have, because humans didn’t have mates.

Hi folks! Technically, we have reached the end of Deter Week 2024. Thank you all so much for your participation and engagement. It has truly meant the world to me.

That being said, don't feel like it's over just yet! If you're still working on things, or still floating ideas around, that's fine! I'm going to leave the collection as it currently is (open, unmoderated) for an additional week before moving it back to moderated (what this means is you'll still be able to post to the collection, it'll just have to be approved to avoid works being added to the collection by accident).

Additionally, I'll be making a roundup post once the collection moves back to being moderated of everything that was made during that time. Once again, if you post after that, it's still fine! Still feel free to tag @deterweek if you're posting about your works or add them to the collection!

My fics for this are spiraling wildly out of control and at least one has gone feral, I mean chaptered. If I can’t manage to wrangle them to a finish before the event but have a chapter or more ready to post, can they still go in the tag/collection? The boys have a lot to go through before their happy ending on both of the fics I’ve somehow started. Plus one of them is Steterek, and we all know how much Stiles likes to talk.

Yes, absolutely! A first chapter or part(s) is totally acceptable to be posted during Deter Week/added to the collection on AO3. Additionally, if it’s worked on but happens to not be finished or in a state where you’re comfortable posting it until later on, that’s okay, too! The collection does not close.

The goal is really just to encourage more Deter (and Deter+) fanworks! I will be reblogging anything that tags @deterweek or uses the Deter Week or Deter Week 2024 tags, and likely making a roundup/masterpost after the week ends, but that doesn’t mean that things can’t continue to be posted beyond that point.

Deter Week 2024

Hello everyone! I just wanted to make a quick post to let you know that Deter Week will be on for 2024, and tentatively the dates will be from March 11th - March 18th.

Absolutely any type of fanwork is welcome! This includes, but is not limited to: art, fic (including remixes), moodboards, playlists, podfics, bookbinds, and more. The goal of Deter Week is not to be restrictive, but just to celebrate the ship and put more fanworks out into the world!

With this goal in mind, there are no sign-ups, minimum participation requirements, or content restrictions (just please tag responsibly! as we always try to do!). Daily themes and prompts will be available (probably not until closer to the end of the year) but they are just suggestions! Any Deter-focused (including others with Deter) creations are welcome.

My main is @lucky-bishop, so feel free to reach out there or here with any questions, or just to share in the Deter excitement! I want to include a quick thank you to @asarcasticwitch for running this event for the past several years, and always doing a great job. Thanks for trusting me with this.
