Hearts and Guts!

Hey Metalocalypse fandom!  The sign-up for the upcoming round of Hearts and Guts has started.  If you're not familiar with it (which I wasn't really until lately), it's a gift exchange for Valentine's Day next year, and sign-up ends on November 15th, so get on that!

:D  It sounds super fun and I'm feeling confident, so I decided to participate this time.  I've only done one other gift exchange thing before, though it wasn't Dethklok related.  And I haven't really been very involved in the fandom the last few years, so I think it would be exciting to get back into the fray for a while.

One True Pairing Ship: skwis and toki otp 5eva

Favorite Canon Ship:  is this a thing that exists in the metalocalypse universe skwisgaar and toki

“If this happens I’ll stab my eyes out with a spork” Ship:  anybody/abigail and pickles/toki words cannot express my hatred for that pairing (it's not the pairing despite the conflicts with my otp...it's the fandom)

“You are one sick bastard” Ship:  everything

“I dabble a little” Ship: nathan/pickles is a really nice ship but i'm not completely sold on it?? i like the way they play off of each other and i think it's cute i just don't feel a lot of affection towards it?

“It’s like a car crash” Ship:  murderface/knubbler is my second biggest metalocalypse ship

“Tickles my fancy but not sold just yet” Ship:  nathan/pickles. i'm sold but i'm cheap. if that even makes sense.

“Makes no canon sense but why the Hell not” Ship: magnus hammersmith/pickles/nathan (i have a fic idea that involves pickles being polyamorous and that was the combination i came up and now i want all of it but nobody else does)

“Everyone else loves it but I just don’t feel it” Ship: PICKLES/TOKI i personally think it's because pickles and tokis are the favorites/most attractive/whatever and people always pair the favorites togethers but guys no

Fandom is Funny Thing

Sometimes, in the course of a fandom, you get to witness something pretty neat.

I am a huge fan of Metalocalypse, as some of you may know. Last night was the premier of what will be the 4th and final season of the show.

The fandom has had its problems, but for the most part... we're a pretty neat bunch. We're a tight-knit group of folks. Especially those of us who *cough* write and draw the slash-type stuff.

We've long known that the show's creators were aware of us, but last night's episode gave us something pretty neat.

Actual acknowledgement. 

The scenario? The Dethklok boys end up at a Dethklok fan convention, and the band is complaining about all the creepy nerd-types that tend to populate such conventions.

They mention the slashers ("Just what we needs, more homoskexuals fanfictions.") and it pans over to a booth where a snazzy lookin' gal is selling prints of ... very familiar artwork.

They used actual fanart in the shot, and I am quite proud to say that I recognize quite a bit of it. 

It's then that one of the characters makes a comment about how he's actually quite fond of how he's portrayed in a pin-up shot.

Their treatment of other negative nerd stereotypes was ... less tactful. They take some pot-shots at overweight cosplayers and furries, for instance.  Actually, the entire arc of the episode is about crazy fangirls in general. Which is fine with me.

I'm just still in awe over this... and I had to share it with you guys.
