My Youtube recommendations were turning up the same videos I have already watched, albeit from composers I enjoy. In a search for new music, I looked up composers from the North German Organ School. These were composers active during the early Baroque period whose work helped develop organ technique and repertoire. In so doing, I found a Samuel Scheidt (1587- 1654), a German organist and composer whose works I have enjoyed this evening. Here is Ascendo ad Patrem meum. Sung by Vox Luminis.

Dieterich Buxtehude’s Ciaccona in E Minor. I enjoy reading the score alongside listening to these great works, and the complexity of this music despite its misleadingly simple theme makes me appreciate once again the genius of this Danish-German composer and the North German Organ School.
