Hello okay, so, before you read this I'm letting you know this is kind of a face palm, why is she so stupid kind of situation, but I just need help. Lolol. So, I really love your lavender color, I've tried dying my hair that color but it has not worked. At the beginning I have naturally dark brown hair but dyed it red a few months ago, about 2 weeks ago I bleached my hair with a blue base to try to get the brassy tones out and to get it as lightest as possible. But, my roots turned white and pg1
(continued) and the rest turned a blondish. Then, to try to get the lavender color I tried mixing a few different semi-permanent hair dyes to try to get the color I wanted, and when I thought it was the right color I put some of it in a chunk of my hair to see how it would turn out. It turned out pink, so I added a little bit of blue and tried again, it turned light blue. I have no clue what to do at this point because my roots are starting to grow in dark brown, then with like 2 inches of white, then the rest blonde and it looks super bad. Can you just please help me? Thanks(: Sorry this was soo long btw.
ooh. that sucks, babe. that's what i meant by having colour corrections done by professionals -- they're so difficult! lifting colour that's already been deposited is a tricky business, especially with your natural roots involved.
there are a couple of things i would suggest. first and foremost, go to a professional. HOWEVER, that can be prohibitively expensive and i recognise that not everyone is financially able to do so.
so. if you're up for a relatively big risk, give your hair another go with the lightener -- everything that is blonde and not white, that is to say all of your hair that was red -- and see how light you can get it. but, if you do this and it doesn't get very light, you need to be willing to then baby your hair with protein treatments and conditioner for a few weeks (preferably a month) before lightening it again (which could be seriously damaging). but maybe it'll get sufficiently light to be at least a light purple, if not a pastel. remember: to get a pastel tone, your hair needs to be almost white.
whatever you do, REMEMBER to not lighten the white part of your roots again!
another option is to just dye all of your hair a dark colour -- dark purple, pink, blue... but remember that if you do this, you won't be able to lighten it again -- you'll be committing to a darker colour because to lighten again down the road, you'd need to process your hair at least twice and you'd risk running into this same situation again AND your hair probably wouldn't be able to stand up to it. breakage city.
honestly, if it were me, i'd go to a professional. the chances of getting it light enough yourself are quite slim and you risk really damaging your hair. but if i couldn't afford it, i'd probably lighten my hair again and then, if it weren't light blonde enough for a pastel, at least go for a light pink or light purple. (i'm betting that, since your hair was red, you won't be able to get it light enough. which is sad but realistic.) but then you must commit to taking care of your hair and be aware that it'll be fried!
i hope this helped. i know how frustrating home-hair stuff can be. show me a picture of what you decide, and let me know if you have any more questions. good luck! xx
