Some ideas on what I look for in voice actors

Yup, like I said before, I am looking for voice actors, at least to make some videos or maybe add voices to a few scenes in the game. NOT NOW!!! Buuuut for the future, and so you can get some idea of ​​what I'm looking for. I’ve been saving money and I was even thinking of opening commissions at some point! BUT FIRST I MUST FIND THAT VOICE ACTOR!! OOOOHHHH WHERE ARE YOU MY BELOVED??? (??

Okay okay, jokes aside, I do have some ideas for the kinds of voices I’m looking for, or at least the tone! Though honestly this could still change! I really hope I can make it happen someday!

Here are some “ideas” of what I’ve been looking for so far or the kind of tone I imagine:"

For Azul: WARNING THIS AUDIO IS FOR PEOPLE 18+

The first time I heard this voice, GOD THIS DEFINITELY HAS TO BE AZUL! Honestly I don’t know if this person takes commissions, but this is pretty much the kind of voice I’m looking for. This VA does both roles really well, both as a Top and a Bottom (yes, I’ve listened to their other audios too, but honestly THEY’RE REALLY GOOD). For Tango:

I’m looking for that deep but relaxed kind of voice, but this situation genuinely made me laugh and gave me strong Tango vibes asking you out on a date ahaha For Lorenzo:

He Follows by LyraV

"Stop looking at me.. Stop it!"

I’m stuck between these two honestly. I really like both of them, but I think Kaizer’s voice from “He Follows” might fit him more… maybe? I’m still searching, but right now I’m between those two. Though I also really love the voice actor for Vergil from Devil May Cry 3.

For Dean:

I’d like his voice to be calm and confident at first, but then able to shift into something more creepy afterward. Though honestly I’m still not completely sure yet. For Aira:

I know there’s actually a song I associate with her, but sadly I have no idea how to contact the creator of the track. I’d really love to hear their voice and maybe have them voice her, but if they’re not interested, then this would probably be my option for her.

By the way, I found the song on Storyblocks! It’s called “Over Again” by Yagull Music. Amazing composer!

Okay honorable mention (? since I’d also love to give them voices too, though I don’t think I’ll actually be able to do it. But at least so you can get an idea of how they sound:

For Desmond:

Okay, honestly I REALLY love the voice in THIS song, and to me this absolutely screams “YES THIS WOULD BE DESMOND SINGING!” Every single time I draw him, I somehow end up drawing him again coughit’snotlikeDesmondismyfavoriteoranything...cough

Also, there’s another version of this song that SERIOUSLY sounds like Azul would sing it too!

GOD I’D LOVE TO HEAR THOSE TWO VOICES TOGETHER!! It would literally be Desmond and Azul singing the same song!

For Richard:

God, I LOVE the voice of a tired, exhausted man who still tries to smile anyway… or the voice of someone who’s been betrayed. I don’t really know how to explain it properly, but those are the kinds of voices I imagine whenever I draw Richard. For Clara:

GOD DOLLY, SHE’S SO CUTE AND SO SWEET AND AAAAAGGGHHHH aggressive affection noises I LOVE HER!!!

And I was thinking Clara would fit her really well. Betty could work too, but I’m not sure… honestly it makes me want to give Clara her own route ahahaha

Anyway, these are just some ideas I have for now! AND I’M STILL OPEN TO ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR VOICE ACTORS YOU GUYS HAVE IN MIND!!! Thanks to @nashiedanarnar for asking me this question! And now for real, I’m off to work. :D

Fairy Touch - I made my first game!

A few months ago I programmed a system to not load assets when they aren't being used in the scene. 

Today I discovered that all assets load RIGHT BEFORE they are told not to. 

That should be a nice performance boost.

Click on the cookie - devlog debut

Hi! Here is coffepixel and this is my newest project that I made in game maker studio 2!

I once saw on youtube that our first games are prototypes and that they are used for us to learn even more, which is true! I learned a lot from this project. In the beginning, a serious car game similar to my first project, but I changed my mind and wanted to do something simpler, a lot of things I got wrong in this first project, like the menu and the score issue, in addition to the music that in a way interferes and I didn't have enough knowledge to do something that could enable or disable the music.

Click on the cookie in the beginning was just a small square that disappeared and destroyed and when you clicked you also destroyed it and gained points

First challenge

My first difficulty in this project was to check if the left mouse button was being clicked, I created two objects one would be the cookie and the other the area that could not be clicked, the problem was in the Left Pressed event, the Left Pressed of the cookie to win points and destroy the instance of this object and create another and the Left Pressed of the other object would be for the game to end but when I put game_restart() the game started, the object appeared and disappeared but if I click on the cookie, the game restarted. I went to a forum to ask for help and solve my first problem and the game itself was ready!

Menu

Fairy Touch has a visually pleasing menu in my opinion in terms of aesthetics, it was all drawn and it was just a sprite, because I didn't know how to make a menu that used the mouse and I didn't bother with that because I was more concerned with the look of the game than its practicality. In Click on the cookie I did something simpler without focusing so much on aesthetics and that was practical and used only the mouse.

Score

One of my disappointments with Fairy Touch was how to deal with the game's score, the player wouldn't know how many points he had at the end and would go back to the menu and start again and not have a final score, in Click on the cookie when you lose it will be directed to a new window with the final score and options to go back to the menu or play again!

Music and Sound Effects

My biggest disappointment with Fairy Touch was the music, playing it again I saw that it's quite annoying, not that the music is bad but whenever you missed the music it started again and that caused me mad. In Click on the Cookie there is no music, just sound effects and here comes what I can't do. Not being able to make a button to turn on and off the sound effects and that will be my next challenge and I believe it is the only thing that was really missing in this project.

Final considerations

I learned a lot in this project and the main thing was that it doesn't have to be so beautiful, of course professional projects are beautiful and full of colors and effects and I'm not a professional (yet). I was in a hurry to do it Fairy Touch and I didn't mind the bugs, something I changed in Click on the cookie.

Click on the cookie is a simple game of making points and testing your speed, it doesn't have a fancy background but it's cute, it doesn't have music but it has sound effects, you don't need to use the keyboard to play, just ESC to pause the game! It was done very slowly and I must say that the code is a bit messy but I can understand it (laughs).

Play a little bit to pass the time while your favorite game doesn't load or whatever, challenge your friends to see who gets the most points and the best participate in the Destroy the cookie challenge at GX.games!
