Chapter 1
"What are you-ohfuckenhell Feliciano you need to stOP!" Kiku shrilled, grasping as his seatbelt like it could somehow protect him from the crazy driving of his friend.
"Hmm, what do you mean? We aren't even going that fast?" Brown eyes flicked to the road, checking that there was no one around before shifting gears and pressing down firmly on the accelerator. The engine purred under them as the world blurred into colors, the car was built for speed, and for an owner who loved to go fast.
Feliciano grinned wide as the rush made him giddy, countryside speeding by as he made a sharp turn that threw Kiku into the door and lifted the wheels off the road for a split second. They bounced back to the road, the shock absorbers working perfectly and Feli gave a cheery sorry to his Japanese friend. Feliciano loved his trips to the countryside, few pedestrians getting on the roads, no chance of being stuck in traffic and more importantly no police to tell him to obey the speed limit!
"W-wait I didn't mean go fast- kyaa! Turn! TURN!" The Japanese man was starting to turn green, deeply regretting the choice to accept his friend's offer to have a 'fun drive in the country!'.One hand rose up to grasp the talisman hanging from his neck, the warm throbbing not doing much to calm him down.
Feliciano tilted his head towards Kiku, taking his eyes off the road to purse his lips at his friend. "You don't need to use that," he said, looking at Kiku's white knuckled fists. "I won't let us crash."
And of course as he said that the smell of ozone filled the air and there was an man in front of them.
Feliciano cursed, jerking the wheel to the side as the man stumbled back but even with Feliciano's skill with cars they still clipped him in the side before Feliciano hit the brakes. The man was knocked into the air, hitting the ground head first from what Feliciano could see in the rear view mirror. The car jerked to a stop and the two friends were out, Feliciano running towards the curled up figure.
Blond hair was quickly turning red when he got there, the stranger gasping for breath, eyes closed in pain. Kiku dropped next to him a second later, digging through a medi-kit. Feliciano raised a hand over the figure, letting a wave of blue light cover and hold him gently as he turned him so the man was on his back. He leaned back and Kiku cutting open his shirt with a pair of scissors.
The man had enough air to scream as they worked together to get the shirt off, accidentally jostling his left shoulder, from the way it protruded it was probably yanked out of its socket. What worried Feli more was the discoloration already showing on the left side of his body as they tried to remove the rest of the shirt without hurting him further.
A grey rock was placed on the man's bare chest, quickly turning red and throbbing, matching the beat of the heart under it. The stone kept beat before slowing down, helping lower the heart rate of their - his - victim. Kiku busied himself taking small square patches smelling of herbs and scribbled over with spells out and placing them on the most obvious wounds, handing some over to Feliciano so he could do the side with the shoulder which Kiku couldn't reach.
The man's trembling slowed as the anesthetic effect of the patches blocked some of the pain but Feliciano kept a steady wave of power over him, keeping his body from moving while the patches continued to work. Kiku excused himself after cleaning up the scrape on the man's head, going back to the car to call for help. Feliciano murmured an agreement, more focused on keeping his magic steady so the not scare the other man too much if he woke up.
His magic shifted in surprise as green rose up to meet it from the man's skin. Feliciano got the impression of plants and sun and the familiar smell of old books as the answering magic tried to fight him off, pushing him away.
No, don't do that! Feliciano pressed the magic helping keep the other man stable as Kiku called the local hospital. The various patches Kiku slapped on him would make sure the man could be moved safely, that when he tried to breathe the broken rib he could feel with his magic wouldn't shift and stab into his lungs, that the fractured arm that had automatically rose in defense would not fragment and damage the nerves or blood vessels.
Feliciano realized that the magic had stopped fighting him. Then he realized that a human, because that is what this man smelled like, human should not have been able to fight his off in the first place.
Wide eyes looked into green as Feliciano felt the magic (magic, what is this humansdon'thave-), previously resisting now curled around his own, mixing the two together where the man's most serious injuries were. They pulsed with pain that Feliciano only felt a faint echo of as their combined magic worked with Kiku's treatment patches to heal some of the damage.
This cannot be real, Feliciano thought as he automatically shifted so that Kiku could not see the patches where his magic was changing color. His eyes never strayed from the other as he felt his magic respond to the inquiring nudge of green and red illuminated his irises, at odds with the blue color in which his power manifested. The green eyes widened but an answering white glow briefly shone in answer, making Feliciano's breath hitch in realization and hope that Kiku didn't see.
The green reluctantly pulled away from him, sinking back into the other man's body and Feli had to physically hold his magic back from delving into the man's core to feel it again. Feliciano barely heard Kiku call him back as the medical team teleported in, Kiku had helped them open a portal so they could get here quickly.
He stood up as a young man in a white uniform knelt down, white magic pouring from a crystal clutched in between his fingers. Feliciano let his hold on the body go, transferring it to the medic as he stepped closer to where Kiku was telling another medic what had happened. Feliciano watched them load the other man onto a stretcher, taking him away as his green eyes, green as his magic, as the colors of his soul closed and he fell into unconsciousness.
Warlock.
Feliciano licked his dry lips as the word repeated itself in his head like a mantra.
