Twitter MOTU Drawing Challenge Week 154 (March 27 - April 03): Sky-Sled ⚔️
My late entry for this drawing challenge (i don’t know why things are so busy), but i had an idea that i just couldn’t pass up.
My drawing is based on a Frank Frazetta painting called “Devil Rider” (see bottom picture), which was perfect for this challenge.
The Sky-Sled takes the place of the motorcycle, the man in the painting already looks like He-Man (so that was easy), and as for the devil in the background, it was a no-brainer who to replace him with (Skeletor, of course!).
My first thought was to use Teela as the female, but i decided i wanted someone who looked more like the girl in the original painting. So I went through the different characters and chose Teela’s friend ileena. Like the original girl, ileena has long blonde hair and wears a 2-piece outfit (both outfits are even in the same color family).
I even replaced the devil head on the motorcycle with the head of Granamyr (the dragon in the He-Man cartoon).
Juno - BL3 Cosplay Guide
It takes grit to survive in the Devil Rider gang, but you gotta be tougher than a twice-baked bootheel to survive once you’re out. Juno’s rustled, raided, and ridden with the worst of them. Now that those days are behind her, all she’s looking for is a bit of peace. But like most things on Gehenna, peace don’t come without a hell of a fight. Luckily, Juno is one hell of a fighter...
“Devil Rider” - Digital Oil Painting
Number 21 in this series - Tom Ellis as Lucifer as Kamen Rider OOO! We had to think for a bit to come up with a character for OOO (pronounced ‘oh’s’ for the uninitiated), eventually, we settled on Lucifer - the medals as the Devil’s coin, he’s left his home, he’s an outcast, plus the arm looks a bit like when he goes all ‘devil.’
Please see the notes for my links, I always double post my art because Tumblr is excluding all links from tag searches. You should find my post tagged ‘licie links’ right under my original post in the notes. I know it’s annoying, but this extra step helps me out a lot.
His motorbike is brighter than my future... 💦💦💦
«Boston area - 9-15-71 - Devil Rider had what I think was the most promotion for any Brad Gritner flick outside of the Southern Drive In circuit for the obvious reason for being a Biker movie. It was still the same low-low-budget level of any of his other movies (Flesh Feast, Blood Freak included) and it's co-feature Naked Angels must have looked like an epic by comparison. In Boston, it was at the Center (Loew's) plus the expected Drive In roll call including the Meadow Glen (Medford), Neponset, Weymouth Twin, and many others.
It should have been the other way around, as Angels was AIP and far better, but at least Gritner history has this cool ad to go with it.»
