yeah i think that must be it. its just so iffy that she (as the last first enchanter & leader of the loyal mages) tells you that most mages live like that, when they reeeeally dont as far as we've seen so far. like id shrug it off if she werent literally speaking for all loyal mages, but shes so intelligent that it comes across as malice or self-serving rather than ignorance? idk. i love her, i wanna understand better why she said that.
