what do inklings and octolings even survive off of like I know tis not water so is it like an oil like substance or ink perhaps? weird I know but is their blood stream just INK like 100% ink do they drink milk I know they can drink soda but what about milk does milk have ink in it ARE THERE COWS what about SEA COWS do they milk them

Pfffffft slow down there dude haha. I don’t really think anyone could answer that aside from Nintendo themselves, but I assume they leave it all up to interpretation... I personally like to think Inklings and Octolings can still drink water and other liquids considering they probably need hydration of some sort, they just can’t handle it in large ammounts like pools or the ocean (+ with Sean’s drinks a lot of them have fruit in them, which implies water from that or ice). That or it’s specifically when they’re using ink tanks that they’re most vulnerable to water (either by not being able to swim or that thing where liquids reach an equilibrium across a barrier due to preassure, I forget the term). You do bring up some interesting points tho! Normal milk has water in it, but I remember having a convo on cows in Splat before and canonically there aren’t cows in since most mammals went extinct (here’s the article), so they’re probably not drinking milk.
