edit: Actually I'm going to add to this. Equally important is the reason he's singing her the song. He'd tried to to talk to her the prior day and did so by trying to bring up a mutal acquantiance. What he hadn't known at the time was said muta acquantaince was a sore spot for the girl. Someone who natural shined brighter, out did her, and to make matters worse, they shared a name, leading everyone around her to call her 'Miko' to differ other Miki. The 'better' Miki as she saw it. So what does he do? He comes back th next day with a song showing he understands a lot of her insecurites about not being as good as his friends and how he feels he's lost his name to his nickname, but he wants to break out and be better.
