Could there be a big cast shake up coming on EastEnders? Cast member Ben Hardy certainly thinks there might be….
The actor who plays Peter Beale in the hit BBC soap has revealed that he fears that his character might meet the same grizzly sort of fate as his twin sister!
Fans of EastEnders will know that Lucy Beale (Hetti Bywater) was murdered over the Easter weekend as part of a huge whodunit storyline for the show, which is expected to carry it through until next February.
And whilst speculation mounts over just who the killer might be, rumours have also been churning quicker than butter about the possibility that the murder was the work of a serial killer, and that they might strike again.
If that is the case, then anyone close to Lucy should be worried, and particularly so if her murder was in fact prompted by hatred for her rather than being because she was simply a random victim who was in the wrong place at the wrong time. So we can see why Ben might be a tad anxious.
Discussing the situation in a recent interview with The Mirror newspaper, Hardy revealed: “It crosses my mind they might bump me off. You’re always aware it could happen [but] I don’t want it to happen!”
Of course, another way to get rid of him would be to make him the murderer, but Hardy went on to explain how he doesn’t think his character has “enough motive to kill his twin.”
However, he confessed: “If they [the show's writers] decided to go that way, I would be more than happy – it would be a great challenge.”
Two actors who definitely are on their way out of EastEnders however are Bianca Butcher’s two youngest children, Tiffany and Morgan, according to Digital Spy today.
According to the entertainment site, the two young actors who play Tiffany and Morgan, Maisie Smith and Devon Higgs, will be leaving the show in the autumn when Bianca (Patsy Palmer) also leaves.
And also leaving the soap will be Bianca’s ex, Terry (Terry Alderton) and his children TJ and Rosie, although at this stage it is unknown if the two former lovers will be leaving together as part of the same storyline.
What has been confirmed however is that Bianca’s eldest two children, Liam (James Forde) and Whitney (Shona McGarty) will be staying in Walford, with a spokesperson from the show being quoted by DS as saying that bosses felt it only right that the youngest two children leave with their mum, adding: “We can confirm that the characters Bianca, Tiffany, Morgan, Terry, TJ and Rosie will be leaving the show later this year.”
Elsewhere, and there is yet another cast member has been contemplating their fate on the show!
Luisa Bradshaw-White, who plays Tina Carter, has revealed that she really hopes that her future on the show is a long one, but luckily for her, so does show executvie Dominic Treadwell-Collins!
According to the actress, Treadwell-Collins has compared her to Dot Branning while discussing Tina’s future on the Square, but Luisa doesn’t mind as she loves the job, and feels “too old” to have any “major ambitions” anyway.
Meanwhile, as her character Tina embarks on a drug dealing storyline in order to raise the cash to pay for treatment so that she and her girlfriend Tosh (Rebecca Scroggs) can have a baby together, Bradshaw-White revealed that she likes how the soap has developed her character rather than just making her “the lesbian one”.
She remarked: “That’s what I think other shows are still doing. We’ve got to move forward. There has to be a story. You can’t just be gay.”
EastEnders continues on Monday night at 8pm on BBC1 / BBC1 HD – Watch an interview with Ben Hardy, who plays Peter Beale, in the clip below:
