No matter how tough you are, how rich you feel at that moment, even if your mortal body feels invincible, in a day or a decade life will bring you to your knees and the most unexpected thing is, it'll be good for you.
If you move through life truly believing that whatever is happening is for your own good, not a lot can break you. Of course, you'll be sad but you'll have faith. Blind faith, almost.
Devoting to God, is one of the best tactics of not getting absolutely destroyed by the outcome of circumstances, people and things in general. I'm not talking about the total detachment that the mental gurus lecture on, be aware that's all.
The kind of love that you're capable of pouring out, only God is able to receive that. Anytime you pour it in anything other than God, you'll be disappointed.
Observing that and internalizing it might make you feel like you're the only one but in the relationship with God, nobody else should come in between. Keep that one thing solid and the rest will fall into place.
