What should’ve happened in the Dexter finale
********SPOILER ALERT***********
IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED ALL 8 SEASONS OF DEXTER DO NOT READ.
Before I even get into this, I just recently finished watching Dexter, yes I am aware the show ended awhile ago.
So, in the Dexter season finale Deb dies and Dexter kind of goes a-wall, and not in a “I'm going to kill everyone I see a-wall” but a “I’m going to leave my son with a wanted fugitive and work construction while I live in a small shack.” I mean really? The entire series is based on Dexter’s ability to live with his “disease” and lead a double life, so why would the writers want Dex to shut down and put his knifes and plastic wrap away for good? Unless they were setting us up for a spin off series, which would only lead Dexter to do what he does best. Kill. So what I don't understand is why the writers ended the series so emotionless and dull. After an amazing and successful hit television show, the series finale was shitty.
If I were the writers, heres how I would’ve ended it:
So, Dexter and Hannah are to set off with Harrison, and Dexter gets a phone call saying that his sister has been shot. Dexter rushes to the hospital to find that Deb is indeed still alive and well. She has taken a shot before, and she was tough enough to do it again. Dexters primary focus is now to find Vogels son and kill him, because if he doesn’t Deb will remain in danger. Dexter finds the son, and kills him, as the hurricane is approaching his “Slice of Life” is taken out and under the waves along with Dexter. Dexter wakes up to plastic wrapped around him and a knife to his cheek, confused he looks up to see older brother, Bryan Moser, confused Dexter asks how he's alive, and then we flashback to Dexter as a child in the trailer where his mother was killed, crying. As if the end was how it all started.
I know as a fan, this is something I would’ve LOVED to see.
