Scryer's Crypt was amazing until the moment it ended and it pisses me off
I'm usually playing Borderlands 3 with voices muted because I want to generally shoot everyone in this game in the face
And the whole Mysteriouslier questline was no less insufferable than the rest of them because the true crime podcast theme was so annoying and, oh yeah, fucking claptrap was there. remember, deliberately annoying is still annoying, but it obviously built up to something interesting
and Scryer's Crypt was like. genuinely good. so good that I dialled up the voice volume again. the mood, the horror atmosphere, the enemies, the boss fight (oh my god I love that boss fight) and Ava is with us the whole time and actually keeps her mouth shut for most of it except the few scenes that have her show actual emotions and an interest in the plot, and she's involved and she's a character for five fucking minutes and there's a bit in the middle where she's like "wow that sucked" in her typical voice and I was already like "you're on thin fucking ice don't you dare ruin this quest for me" and to be fair she didn't until the very end
because we had a resolution to the mystery that not only had massive ramifications on the plot of the questline but the plot of the entire game and, if these writers were in any way competent, the plot of BL4
and not only did she immediately forget everything that happened except the bit pertaining to her specifically, she also completely ruined the mood by talking about her fucking podcast again
even when it doesn't suck for a single second this game's writing has to immediately ruin it again
it's a good thing that everything other than the writing is genuinely really good in this game
