Glad as I am to not see that horse-human-fish abomination thing flailing about in animation, it's such a shame that the anime cut this moment, because it really sheds light on Alma's sharp, perspective side.
Since it happens right before Alma tries to rescue Yuu by taking him through the irrigation canals, the anime kind of misses out in showing that Alma had an actual plan going on, albeit a hastily put together one given the circumstances. Alma did not just kick Yuu into the canal on a hope and a prayer, that canal was their best way to get outside as far as Alma was aware. (Of course, since Fo exists, that was an impossible task in the first place, but Alma couldn't have known that.)
Anyhow, my point is that Alma is smarter than most people give them credit for, even the animation team itself.
saw someone on Twitter say that all of Allen’s suffering should be transferred to Lavi I told them neither deserve to suffer and they said they where joking but then they said they hated how lavi reacted to Allen’s “death” how do you hate it how does it upsets you how he reacted do you think he didn’t care about Allen or that he wasn’t upset enough if you think that then you do not understand his character and where not paying attention to get upset at him for how he acted that you joke he should suffer like Allen. Lavi cares that’s why he took the ace card that’s why he got upset about Lena and how she was blaming herself when he died do you not get the whole thing about bookman how he’s not supposed to have a heart but he does go reread the manga or rewatch the anime before you go and say stuff like that pay attention cause you clearly aren’t this person doesn’t understand subtlety or nuances I’m sick of people like this
I always knew DGM was gonna make things complicated than just good vs. evil. But it’s so satisfying to see bs get called out. These are child soldiers, child experiments. It being to stop the Earl does not justify war crimes. How many fallen ones are there? How many tries did it take before they were successful with Yu and Alma? A crucial part of Lenalee’s backstory is how traumatized she is.
And the thing is, I fully believe (from what I know) that they trust it’s for the greater good. Using the whole “we must become a monster to defeat one” defence. But then it’s like….you might as well be honest about it then. You brush all this shit under the rug and then act shocked when ppl don’t respect you.
I never watched entire dgm anime and I'm not going to. I've read manga first and I'm not fan of plot change here and there (not much but still), some censorship, also the way Allen's eyes drawn in anime. I just love his eyeshape and in anime it's completely different, it irks me every time I see it.
So, I watched only some parts of anime, skipping all the fillers, and only recently decided to watch few filler eps where Kanda and Allen shown together. And I finally realised what maybe these fillers is why sometimes dynamic between Allen and Kanda portrayed in a way which always puzzled me.
So, in these two short stories Allen looks really weak for some reason, and Kanda is like some great warrior who constantly tells Allen he can't handle this and that. I'm guessing ideas like Allen being in awe about how strong Kanda is, Allen needing Kanda's protection, etc came from here.
Meanwhile in canon: in their first mission Kanda was the one who ended up with huge injuries, has to be rescued by Allen from second level, Allen had to drag his half-dead ass to safety, Kanda was the one who landed in hospital. If not for his magical healing he would be out of commission for few months. Later Allen met him only in Edo, not knowing about his powers or witnessing any of his other fights. In between Allen met two Noahs and was overwhelmed both times. So it's not surprising he volunteered to stay and fight together with Kanda in Ark, he had all the reasons to be concerned about him. (And no reason to view him as this perfect super strong soldier who he admires, like in some fanons). Kanda felt insulted, I bet.
Kanda: I'm going to take this Noah on my own.
Allen: Maybe don't do that? I don't want your angry violent ass end up dead.
Kanda: Rude, Moyashi.
Okay, it was just a short rant about my confusion about some fanons, I was always curious how they came to exist, now mystery is solved.
