I don't like the music too. I only liked a few songs. A lot of people feel the same way. Maybe it's a matter of taste. I saw a blog saying it's the kind of music that would be a hit in the 80s or something and that people's preferences have changed. I don't listen to 80s music so I don't know.

Even if the music had mass appeal, it's still a lot of time,effort and money dedicated to something that won't even be in the show as much and is not exactly a good narrative device especially with all the budget constraints and the limited number of episodes.

So I am a musician and I’m a little surprised at how narrow the genre turned out to be given the influences Daniel mentioned. I LOVE Sam’s voice… but I feel the genre was for the “mainstream” audience. So a little bit, I’m glad that we didn’t have more in the show that we did. Sorry that’s how I feel.
