Thought maybe I should start blogging about the things that interest me, so here it goes...Let's see if I can keep up with this haha
I've been a bit deprived of new music, so as I was looking up recent C-pop releases, I found out that Lara was finally making a comeback! Yay! I have been a fan of her ever since I came across her debut album with songs like "我不再怕" and "胡椒與鹽." Something about her vocals and maybe her perfect English caught my attention at that time, and I have been hooked ever since.
Anyways, I am really digging her latest single, "滴答" and can't wait to see what else she has in store for listeners. I'm loving the British rock influences, the lyrics which really hit close to home, and the progressive theme of the music video.
I fell in love so hard core with this song today. I now feel the need to watch the drama this goes with.
I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't care about Isaac on Teen Wolf? Like at all?
So, I saw this on a post (on an Orphan Black blog, to be fair)...
This Thursday’s episode contains a sequence Julie Plec is dubbing “the triple-banger,” as it features “not just one, not just two, but three Nina Dobrevs all in one scene. It’s one of my favorite scenes of the entire season — and the last couple seasons.” Perhaps anticipating the inevitable comparisons to a certain BBC America cult hit, Plec adds, “I saw Orphan Black. It’s amazing. But Nina has been doing that for four years. I want to give Nina her due.”
... Nope. I haven't watch TVD in a couple of years (it was pissing me off tbh), and yes Nina is an awesome actress who should get more credit for her multiple portrayals in one show (and probably doesn't due to the highly misogynistic dismissal of cultural products that young women and girls enjoy, which I agree is upsetting and insulting).
But playing two (three? is this new?) characters, is not the same thing as what Tatiana has been doing - playing 4 well-developed characters, 3 lesser-developed characters, several interactions between various combinations of these characters, and 6 variations of them impersonating one another - and making all those separate characters entirely their own and the performances being entirely believable. The comparison is just... no. Just stop.
Part of me is like 'if you're foolish enough to tell the very evil villain that you're going to reveal their very evil plan, you probably deserve to die'.
But then I'm like 'this ploy is very old and very tired and very lazy, and writers probably need to come up with better material'.
I actually can't even deal with this Lamar story arc. At least he doesn't know about Tandy?
