Just wanna make sure everyone knows that me comparing epic and the odyssey is not me hating on epic at all. I mentioned this at the end of my last post but I think you can and should be critical of things even if you love and enjoy them.
Tbh I make the comparisons bc I find them fun and interesting in a “oh I wonder why Jorge did it this way? Why go this route for this scene/song?” It’s never out of malicious intent or me just bitching to bitch. I enjoy digging deeper into things I love. It’s why I have a whole fucking creepypasta au that does that, I do it w my own ocs and the stories they tell even if you don’t see my oc content here. It’s just a part of me enjoying myself in my fandoms.
And if that sort of thing annoys you you’re free to block me I won’t mind, hell I won’t even know lol. But when Illium the musical comes out I plan on rereading the actual Iliad and doing the same things I have with epic because again I find it fun to make comparisons.

One of the things I find interesting abt the differences between epic and the actual odyssey everyone does the Scylla animatic with the ship going into this cave whereas in the odyssey they just sail by a cliff side.
Odysseus is trapped between a rock and hard place. He is unable to sail perfectly between Scylla and Charybdis so his choices are have the entire ship swallowed up by Charybdis or lose 6 men. Only one ship that was able to sail perfectly between the two and they were the Argonauts. Odysseus decides to sacrifice a few for the greater good of the crew and so sailed closer to the cliff to avoid the whirlpool - it’s literally just an ancient trolly problem. Scylla’s 6 canine like heads come from a cave further up the cliff. They don’t sail into a cave (at least in the version I read, I can’t speak on behalf of other translations).
It’s just a difference I find interesting especially knowing Scylla’s creation story according to Ovid at least. Like girl is trapped in that cave after Circe turned her into that beast.
