The cost of Type 1 Diabetes

I got my prescription claim summary for 2018 in today. The total cost for the year, just for diabetes-related prescriptions, was $13,589.06. Because we pay for health insurance, I "only" paid $2180.03 out of pocket on prescription co-pays. That's more than two mortgage payments a year I pay on the medication I would LITERALLY DIE WITHOUT, just to stay healthy and alive. And that's AFTER paying for health insurance, and it doesn't count doctor co-pays ($75 every three months).

I'm just mad about it, y'all. Something has to change in this country. I got stuck with some crappy genes and... this is what I deserve? What about the diabetics without health insurance? How are they supposed to stay alive?

Something's gotta change.
