Diamond tussles with jealously of another kind

AU in which Dia and Bortz dated while in highschool and happened to be toxic to each other, due mostly their insecurity and immaturity.

they part in sorta amicable terms but you can see Bortz is still hang up on Dia despite playing it off as not caring, while Dia is barely suppressing their anger at how Bortz treated them.

10 years later, Dia finally strikes as a successful idol. Bortz went to a far away, secluded place to dedicate themselves to their true passions, which mostly includes taking care and rehabilitating weird animals. like, Bortz is the kinda person who dreamed of doing beekeeping as a hobby or to go study obscure kind of marine creatures and they mostly worked in their twenties to attune to the possibilities of chasing those dreams. After graduating high school, they spent their lives dreaming to fuck off somewhere with a low population number and the bare minimum of human interaction.

And so, they! meet again? despite the odds, due to their friends in common and maybe a high school reunion? IDK.

It turns out that Dia is burned out with the celebrity life, in which nothing is ever good enough for them, they find out they have a terrible temper and feel like people all around them in the industry are fake and kinda boring. they're bored with themselves.

Bortz has been feeling satisfied to where their life lead to, but it turns out the loneliness has been eating at them, too. They miss their friends but they like the quietness of their place too much to back down on it and go back to a more accessible place. Only Cinnabar and Phos find reasonable to take the days long drive to visit Bortz's place.

They talk it out, Bortz invites Dia to stay at their place for a while ("beekeeping?", "no, I'm not letting you anywhere near my bees." "no, no, no, no, I wanna see them, I wanna see the baby bees!") mostly so Dia can recover and hide from the world a little bit and obviously they are suddenly in crazy love with each other all over again, but trying their best to keep it cool - in fact, Bortz never got over their infatution with Dia, like a loser and that might have been one of the reasons why they looked so much for isolation while Dia's carrer was booming and Bortz had to hear about it everywhere.

And then, obviously almost all the choices they made has been to get over their break up, but they still have this huuuge crush on each other that doesnt seem to go away and they get back together, better this time around. Dia leaves on tours for long periods at a time, but then hides from the world staying close to Bortz and this lifestyle suits them just fine.
