I’ve reached the age now where people stop asking if I’m going to become a priest and now ask if I’m going to become a deacon
On the morning of Friday June 21st, 2019 A. D. and at the St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary, His Excellency Bishop Tissier de Mallerais celebrated the annual ordination Mass assisted by dozens of priests and hundreds of faithful from across the nation; during which four seminarians to the order of the Diaconate and five to the holy Priesthood of Our Lord Jesus Christ!
The diaconate is the ministry, not of reading the Gospel and the Epistle, as is the present practice, but of distributing the church's aid to the poor, so that the priests may be relieved of the burden of temporal matters and may give themselves more freely to prayer and the Word. For this was the purpose of the institution of the diaconate, as we read in Acts.

In the Oriental Church, too, most illustrious Fathers bear witness to the excellence of Catholic celibacy. In this matter as in others there was harmony between the Latin and Oriental Churches where accurate discipline flourished. St. Epiphanius at the end of the fourth century tells us that celibacy applied even to the subdiaconate: "The Church does not on any account admit a man living in the wedded state and having children, even though he have only one wife, to the orders of deacon, priest, bishop or subdeacon; but only him whose wife be dead or who should abstain from the use of marriage; this is done in those places especially where the ecclesiastical canons are accurately followed."
Pope Pius XI, Ad Catholici Sacerdotii (December 20, 1935 A. D.) speaking on celibacy in the Eastern Church.
