So. I did Patch 5.55 in Japanese, on my green catboi Alt, M'oko Tia/"Moko", cause I was curious about the two cutscenes at the end. I stumbled over another fun difference in dialog choices during the scene with Alphinaud and Alisaie's dad, though. I immediately knew it was different from what I had on Angel because I saw the twins' names in the second option.
Can't wait to yell at a bunch of old Sharlayan fuddy-duddies in Endwalker. lol
A comment on English first, though. I really liked the callback to the side/Aether Current quest, "Debate and Discourse," where we're able to give the same answer about a similar issue: the opinion of helping neighbors across the sea.
I found that an awesome callback and another parallel to the End Days we learned about in Amaurot.
So, when I did the patch in Japanese, I got to that part of the patch, and immediately read Alphinaud and Alisaie's names. I then translated my options before I continued due to my attention problem. lol
Kanji:
• それでも、傍観だけが正義ではないはずだ
• アルフィノとアリゼ一にも信念がある
• 世界を救うには、あなたたちの力が必要だ
Romanization:
• soredemo, boukan dake ga seigi de wa nai hazu da
• Alphinaud (ARUFINO) to Alisaie (ARIZEE) ni mo shinnen ga aru
• sekai o sukuu ni wa, anatatachi no chikara ga hitsuyou da
Translation:
• "Even so, there's no justice in sitting on the sidelines."
• "Alphinaud and Alisaie (both) have conviction/faith."
• "To save the world, your help is needed/required."
I mostly thought it was pretty neat, either way, especially pointing out that the twins have conviction. (Or faith, it'd be up to however you wanted to read it. I rather like 'conviction', personally.)
There's also the reiteration of "Yeah, but everyone's going to be needed to save the world, here, bub. Even you." on the last one. lol
力 or 'chikara' has lots of meanings; strength, power, ability, skills, assistance, influence, support, resources, effort, influence(s). Given the context, 'your assistance/help' felt like the best translation. The next word is 必要 or 'hitsuyou' and means "necessary; needed; essential; indispensable" ...so, 'assistance is necessary'.or 'essential'.
