Okay so not only is the foreshadowing in this show ridiculous, AND we actually got to see Pad’s seemingly “useless” future vision come in handy from the first episode she appeared in, but this also got me thinking:

If the shield is reflective and it protects against “blasts” (Steven using it to protect from the robanoids and Rose protecting Garnet and Pearl from the Diamond attack) and causes these blasts to literally bounce from the shield and send it in a different direction (seen in first gif), could this have something to do with why Homeworld is completely wrecked?

Blue and Yellow Diamond thought the attack would “decimate” the earth, as said by Blue herself. And as of the last episode, we have now actually seen what Homeworld looks like:

Now if you ask me, that is what a decimated planet looks like.

So what if corruption- although done primarily through White Diamond since she clearly has “mind control” like powers- was not actually the intention of the attack OR White Diamond?

What if corruption somehow happened because Rose’s shield made it so the Diamond attack did not hit the entirety of earth? And instead of decimating earth, the part of the blast that bounced off her shield hit Homeworld, causing its near destruction and starting the beginning of “Era 2”?

This would correlate as to why Yellow and blue Diamond AND Peridot all had no idea what corruption was before seeing it on earth (and Peridot confirms it does not exist on Homeworld), and it would also back up the theory stating that White Diamond is powering Homeworld and keeping it from falling apart, and why she cannot leave Homeworld. For all we know she can’t leave that spot- why else would she not go to the trial of Rose Quartz?

We don’t know much of anything about “Era 2” other than the brief things Peridot has said about it. But think about it- no main or side characters could have been there if a part of the blast did hit Homeworld and sparked Era 2! Rose, Pearl and Garnet were all on earth. Lapis was stuck in a mirror. Peridot is an Era 2 gem, so she hadn’t even emerged yet.
