1) he’s terrified to be a dad at first. he and emma basically already adopted kevin and it was fine. scott’s been a father figure to a host of children over the years. he’s on good terms with and loves his own kids. BUT he can never shake the feeling that he failed nathan while he was a baby. scott also has insecurities because he’s like “i never had a good father i don’t know what it means to be a good father.” but he is a natural in the role. the minute he holds his kid he’s wrapped around that kid’s finger.

2) helicopter dad. again, this stems from the nathan situation but also scott’s cautious personality in general. he videotapes everything because he’s like “i dont want to miss anything” and is Over Protective.

3) he’s the strict parent lmao. the “eat your veggies” parent. but he also pulls the “ask your mother” card all the time when he doesnt want to be the one to say no. sorry emma.

4) scott WILL take his kids to disney and wear the matching ears with them. and he will make emma wear a pair too. and take a selfie w him (he also takes dad selfies that look embarrassing rip)

i wish more people understand that there is no ‘marvel’ canon.  there are marvel canons.  the multiverse isn’t some higher concept when talking about marvel, it’s a thing that actually, physically exists (or existed, it depends on if you believe other universes were rebuilt after the incursions or not and i’m going with the line that while reed is smart, he doesn’t know everything and he’s wrong, the multiverse still actually exists).  it’s a known, understood thing, in-universe.  it’s not one size fits all, because there are rules to it.

the main comics - earth 616 or earth prime or whatever you want to refer to it as - are the main storyline.  it’s marvel prime, it is the official real main continuity.  everything else is a branch off or a parallel universe to it, all happening simultaneously.  parallel and branch universes exist because of decisions made, quirks that apply in one universe are there for a reason.  there’s context.  there’s a lead up.  no one universe is better than another, necessarily, but they’re different and it’s supposed to be that way.  i mean, for the love of God, folks, there’s a universe out there where tony is a literal mandrill.  and he’s the iron mandrill.  i’m not joking this is a real thing.  some universes are set on a continuous paradoxial loop to neutralize them (marvel zombies).  some universes only exist for a blink and then they die.  (to quote:  ‘everything dies’.)  but what’s true for one will not be true for another and it’s actually...a really easy concept to understand once you start untangling it.  the marvel multiverse is literally a stack of pancakes and the gooey syrup in between is just subspace.  where things go to get lost.  it’s just the top pancake with the butter pat is 616.

is this comparison even working anymore, who knows.

anyway, point is, 616 is the main universe - this is marvel, not me - with everything else trucking along next to it, and it’s supposed to be that way.  it just means that what 616 does tends to effect everything else around it (have i mentioned the incursions 5803948503945 times lately? because i feel like i should maybe mention them one more time), because it is main continuity.  the unpopular part of my opinion is that i like it that way.  i like that 616 is not mcu is not ultimates is not marvel zombies is not heroes reborn is not-  i like the multiverse concept and i just wish more people utilized it.

 (   this one has always heavily reminded me of mark , because it sort of reminds me of a situation he would & sort of did find himself in at one point of his life. his entire life has been plagued by the fact that he grew up in a part of town that wasn’t too wealthy with parents that didn’t make a lot , & he grew to be someone who lived in POVERTY. part of the reason he turned to drugs & didn’t turn away from them for so long was because his life wasn’t fantastic , sort of like the life the man describes in the song. instead of dancing & screwing & drinking , it’s drugs for mark , & when he went to uni he was surrounded by people who didn’t get what that felt like ). 

2 .  𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐆 𝐀𝐌𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐒    by   david   bowie  ---  ❛   do you remember your president nixon ? / do you remember the bills you have to pay ? /  or even yesterday ?  ❜ :

(  this one reminds me of mark because in the novel , mark is on the train listening to it ( or singing it his head , i can’t remember ). it also has to do with that being young & lost thing that reoccurs in a lot of the songs that make me think of mark. i think mark has all the pieces to be a fantastic , well managed being in society ( & he does prove at one point that he can be -- at least for an extended amount of time ) , but he struggles. while his is a struggle that not all young people have ( a heroin addiction ) , the reason he does it is not so foreign ; there is something about it that resonates , & that can be found in between the lines of this song. )

3.   𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐒𝐄 𝐃𝐀𝐘𝐒   by   nico  ---  ❛   i've stopped my dreaming / i won't do too much scheming these days , these days / these days i sit on corner stones / and count the time in quarter tones to ten / please don't confront me with my failures / i had not forgotten them.  ❜

(  these days reminds me of mark because it feels like the scene in trainspotting where he’s the booth by himself watching everyone around him have a good time & live life while he’s just sulking. if that scene were to be a song it would be this one. this song is the part of mark’s life where he’s no longer on drugs & feeling disconnected from everyone & everything around him because of it. ).

4.   𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐎𝐈𝐍   by   the   velvet   underground  ---  ❛   i don't know just where i'm going / but i'm gonna try for the kingdom if i can / ‘cause it makes me feel like i'm a man / when i put a spike into my vein / and i’ll tell 'ya things aren't quite the same / when i’m rushing on my run / and i feel just like jesus' son  ❜

(  this one is pretty obvious i feel like. i chose it because it’s literally a song about heroin so mark can relate pretty well to the lyrics. i also chose it because i remember at one point in the novel simon puts it on & mark hates that he’s done that because he doesn’t like it. i thought that was very interesting & for some reason that’s stuck with me ).

(  this one is more of a ‘ on a lighter note ’ song that reminds me of mark. it is all the fun parts of mark’s various dynamics & all the good moments of his life as it is. it reminds me a lot of the group as a whole , but i think it is applicable to just him singularly as well. )
