Still working on day 19 for take a risk and I'll post it once through. Don't want to get too far behind though. Day 20 for @artfullfebruary was best advice so I'll go with occasionally leaving your every day stresses by diving head first into a book. Finally started really reading againl after not so much for a few years. I tend to read in phases... gun ho for months to years then not much for an equal time span. This was the third @diane.chamberlain.author book I've read within the last month to month and a half. Another book I recommend for that deep dive. If you read the book you'll realize I left a few clues in this post as to what it's partially about. First time I've ever bought a book the day it was released (from Costco this past Tuesday) and I meant to slowly devour it over time. This worked for Tuesday and Wednesday but then I ended up finishing reading it far too late Thursday night (technically Friday morning but I haven't slept yet). If you couldn't tell I enjoyed the book just like I have all the other books written by Diane Chamberlain. I received an advanced reader copy of The Last House on the Street from St. Martin’s Press via NetGalley, in return for my honest opinion. The Last House on the Street by Diane Chamberlain is a story about self-discovery, love and grief. Kayla is recently widowed and having reservations about moving into a new house, that she designed with her late husband. As Kayla tries to feel good about the new house, there seems to be several signs telling her to live somewhere else, including a mystery woman set on scaring Kayla away. Ellie Hockley, has just returned to Round Hill, North Carolina to take care of her ailing brother and mother, in her childhood home, just down the street from Kayla’s new home. As Ellie’s past slowly unfolds, we’ll learn the reason she left home 45 years ago and how Kayla’s new home also plays a part in Ellie’s story. This was a fantastic, gut-wrenching story that you’ll want to devour, yet savor. The Last House on the Street is available today, January 11, 2022. What’s a genre you want to read more of? . The Last House on the Street by Diane Chamberlain has such a poignant and tragic historical thread that it reminds me that I love historical fiction though I don’t read much of that genre. This story also contains a mystery with a shocking conclusion in its current-day plot thread that relates back to the past. I loved both parts of this dual timeline story.
