a/n: i wrote this before halloween vi happened so just view this as an alternative halloween vi!
Halloweens at work were always chaotic and this year’s Halloween was surprisingly calm. You were working at your desk, filing a completed case into the digital police system when a paper airplane hit you on the back of your head. You turned around, watching Jake fold another paper airplane and fly it to Rosa, hitting her on the shoulder. Rosa instantly stood up, grabbing a knife out of her belt and whipping around to see what had just tapped her on the shoulder. Once she saw the paper airplane, she put back her knife and picked it up. You opened the paper airplane you received as well and on the paper, Jake had scrawled “Meet in the bullpen now!!”
Rolling your eyes at his dramatic theatrics, you headed over to the bullpen. Rosa walked up next to you, offering you a sweet smile before returning to her usual frown as Jake walked up to the group gathered in the center of the bullpen. He dramatically cleared his throat and announced, “You are all probably wondering why I gathered you all. You didn’t think I would forget about the Halloween heist, did you?”
Amy excitedly pumped her fist and Captain Holt scoffed at Jake’s enthusiasm. Jake continued to explain, “Since last year it was a tie-”
“Technically, I won,” Amy interjected, receiving pissed looks from people who wanted to hear what Jake had to say.
“Well, it was technically a tie because even though you won the belt, I won your hand in marriage,” Jake triumphantly proclaimed, causing Charles to place his hands over his heart affectionately and Rosa’s frown to deepen. Jake took out a list from his jacket and explained as he uncrumpled it, “Amy and I have written down who we want on our team already and we have a special guest joining us today.”
As Jake finished his last word, the elevator dinged and the doors slid open to reveal Gina Linetti, wearing an extravagant golden crown, who was posing dramatically and walked into the bullpen with a confident strut. She took off her silver sunglasses and chewed her gum obnoxiously loud, “Hello people! It’s been a while but your favorite girl is back in town and ready for another Halloween heist!”
“Gina! It’s so good to see you back!” Amy started towards Gina with the intention of hugging but Gina stuck out a hand, turning her face away.
“Please stay outside of the five feet radius personal bubble I created for myself. The Met Gala is next week and my hairdresser does not want to battle with my hair before then,” Gina put her sunglasses on and Amy returned to where she was standing, failing to conceal her disappointment of being rejected.
“Anyway, as I was saying, Amy and I have already chosen our teams. So, on my team, I have me, Rosa, Gina, and Charles,” As Jake listed the people on his team, his teammates all gathered around him. Charles crossed his arms, trying to look tough, Gina flipped her hair and posed again, and Rosa just looked more dead inside than ever.
“On my team, I have myself, Terry, Captain Holt, and Y/N! Okay, each team has five minutes to discuss a plan and then the heist starts. Jake, would you like to do the honors of explaining what this year’s heist is about?” Amy glanced at Jake, beaming with excitement. You could practically see the gears whirring in Amy’s brain as she was obviously devising a plan as Jake spoke.
“Yep! So, this year, the goal is to get this crown!” Gina handed Jake the crown and he picked up an empty plastic box from the table next to him. Then, he places the crown in the box and clasped a lock over the front of the box, placing it back on the wooden table. “This box will be on this table in the middle of the bullpen and whoever has the crown at the end of the night wins! Each team has five minutes to discuss a plan before the heist officially begins, starting… now!”
Amy called the group into a group huddle and rapidly began to inform everybody of the plan she called “The hallo-win plan”. She would take care of distracting Charles, Terry had to go after Gina, and Captain Holt was going to handle Jake. You had to guard the box and keep an eye on it to make sure that nobody from the opposition took it. Of course, Jake wasn’t going to be so aggressive and go for it in the first few hours so your job was made easy.
After each group met, the teams met in the center of the bullpen and Jake commenced the heist by announcing, “Now that we have our plans, the heist begins in three... two… one!”
Everybody ran off in separate directions while you and Rosa stayed. You walked up to her, a mischievous smile on your face, “So, you’re here to guard the prize too.”
“Yep. You know, I don’t think anybody is coming to get the prize anytime soon,” Rosa replied just as you heard Terry and Gina yell at each other in the distance. You nodded in agreement and when your eyes met Rosa’s you both silently communicated through a shared troublemaker look.
You followed her to the balcony, smiling as you closed the door behind you. She gestured to the small table and chairs she set up and asked, “Shall we?”
“Gosh, you’re too sweet,” You kissed her on the lips and she dipped you into a bridal-style kiss. You two ended up making out and not even using the table that Rosa set up. You lost track of time because all you could keep track of was this amazing feeling you were getting from all these kisses you shared with Rosa. Even though Rosa pretended to be a badass, tough fighter, she secretly had a soft heart. In the midst of making out with her, your walkie talkie crackled to life as Amy shouted, “Where are you, Y/n? The crown was stolen!”
You pulled away from Rosa, both of you staring at each other in shock. It turns out somebody was really bold enough to go for the crown. You picked up the walkie talkie and spoke into it quickly, “Sorry, I’ve been tracking Rosa. I’ll be right there.”
You motioned for Rosa to head in first so it wouldn’t look suspicious and followed her, hurrying to the center of the bullpen to find that the box had been broken into. Everybody was already gathered around that the box had been broken into. Everybody was already gathered around the empty table and eyeing you and Rosa suspiciously. Terry crossed his arms, frowning as he asked, “Where were you two?”
“Oh, I thought Rosa had the crown and ended up chasing her. Turns out, she was just tricking me. I guess I was too distracted to notice somebody already stole it,” You lied, trying not to seem flustered. Glancing around at everybody in the circle, you tried to read their expressions to see if anybody was having anything. Your eyes shifted to Gina, who was fidgeting with her pocket, and pointed to her, exclaiming, “Gina has it!”
Immediately, Amy darted towards Gina, grabbing her by her fancy coat, aggressively shouting, “Where is it?”
“What makes you think I’m going to tell you?” Gina frowned at Amy, clearly unimpressed by her anger. Amy took out a can of pepper spray, uncapped it, and held it next to Gina’s hair. Gina tried to back away but Amy’s grip on her arm never faltered. “If you don’t tell me where the crown is, I will spray this on your hair.”
Gina yelped in alarm and put her hands on her hair in an attempt to try to protect it. She gave in, admitting, “Fine! I hid it in the storage room!”
Upon hearing this, everybody ran to the storage room to try to get to the crown first. Gina followed after taking a moment to get her emotions in check. Rosa turned towards you with a smirk on her face and suggested, “Let’s go to Shaw’s. I’m kinda over the heist. Besides, I want to spend more time with you.”
“Why not?” You smiled and you and Rosa walked away, hand in hand. Luckily for you, the only thing Rosa stole during this heist was your heart.
