One thing I love Strange World is that there's no "villain" in a sense. Like Encanto, and Turning Red, it's just about families working through their problems with a little danger and spectacle thrown in as a little bonus.

The thing about not wanting to be like your parents only to unknowingly turn out just like them is actually crazy and I love how they did it in the film. Showing that it isn't too late for you to be better is a really cool concept to play with.

The gay rep in Strange World is very nice, between Ethan and Diazo's sweet interactions and his family including his grandfather being totally supportive of Ethan's feelings. But y'know what would've made it even better?

Diazo should've gone with Ethan on the journey.

If Diazo was in the mood for a little adventure himself, decided "I can't let you go alone" and tags along with him sneaking onboard the Venture, and throughout the movie, he's fully aware of Ethan's crush on him but decides to let him confess in his own time rather than forcing it out of him, eventually leading to a adorkable confession and even a kiss before the third-act twist.

Just finished watching a strange world and I honestly have to say that it is such a beautiful story. There’s a lot of different views you can take on about the story, which just makes it even better. First off, I am just going to say that there is so much representation in this movie. They have quiet acceptance for the queers because our main boy Ethan is gay and according to the disney fandom page, the third openly gay Disney protagonist. Not to mention, his voice actor is also openly gay which is totally awesome. It was just Ethan falling for Diazo and *spoiler* them getting together in the end which was just the cutest thing. I also definitely thought that Callipso gave off butch lesbian vibes but that might just be me being really attracted to her. And not really related to this but Meridian just slays so hard the entire movie and I really hope you enjoy her character. She's just so awesome.

ANYWAYS, it also has a lot of awareness about the environment. It directly/indirectly talks a lot about how humans really need to think about the consequences of our actions on the planet. Everything we do, makes it look like its good for us and our survival as humans. But did we not get multiple warnings about how disastrous our lifestyle is to the environment? Did we not completely ignore it and choose to hide it away? It's going to keep coming back to us and we won't be able to fix things until it's too late.

Third, this movie hits a little close to home for some. It might just be me who interprets it like this but I thought it also represented cancer. It felt as though Jaeger was the one who was dying from cancer and the others were trying so hard to save him. The pando, in my mind, represented radiation therapy or chemotherapy. It seems like it's working until it's not and the only way to get rid of it is pulling it out from the roots. It isn't always possible and doesn't always end well but in this case, it did.

Fourth, I really loved the way that they did not hesitate in showing that parents really do end up forcing things on their children. They might not realize it sometimes because they've tried to get away from it themselves. Love that Ethan was getting the understanding and love that he deserves.

I also love the way that they showed Avalonia as so small. It really puts things into perspective. Maybe the world that you know is so small only because it's the only thing that you've tried to see. Definitely make some decisions that might seem out of the box or something that you don't think you'd do or try because it might be the way to bring you out of that small world that you know. Not to mention, the creatures in the other parts of the world are just absolutely adorable. Also, I got like really excited over the ending. I really hope that you enjoy it, if you choose to watch it. It's such a beautiful movie. I almost cried multiple times. But yea, anyways. He then realized the situation they were both in. They were two teenagers. Who were dating. Who were in a house by themselves. In very close proximity.

He had never considered it before. Did… did Diazo ever want to get closer to him in that way.

Ethan felt his face go numb and he quickly wiped his hands on the covers to hide how clammy they had gotten so suddenly.

Surely… surely not… but. Even if he did. That was a good thing! Right? It was a sign that Diazo was comfortable enough with him and wanted to take their relationship further.

But… if it was a good thing, then why didn’t he feel the same about it? If it was meant to be a sign that they were comfortable with each other, why did he feel sick at even the thought of it?

If Diazo was comfortable with the idea already, then he should as well, right? Right?! It has been a year after all. But in all that time Ethan had been dating Diazo— no. Known Diazo, he’d never felt that way about him. Or about anyone else for that matter.

 Or: Asexual Ethan and Asexual Diazo! There is a little bit of angst due to a misunderstanding, but don’t worry! They talk and work it out and end up just cuddling at the end <3

Just watched strange world and it was GREAT! Seriously, check it out. They did a shit job advertising it but the movie. GOD THE MOVIE. It is absolutely stunning. Protagonist is great and he gets a silly looking amoeba friend.

SERIOUSLY WATCH IT. IT'S SO FUCKING GOOD.

(I'll be honest because of disney's shitty marketing I didn't even know this movie existed. But the movie was good.)

Preparation of a 2-bromobenzoic acid derivative from an anthranilic acid derivative using the Sandmeyer reaction.

The Sandmeyer reaction is a chemical reaction used to synthesize aryl halides from aryl diazonium salts. It is named after the Swiss chemist Traugott Sandmeyer. The reaction is a method for substitution of an aromatic amino group via preparation of its diazonium salt followed by its displacement with a nucleophile, often catalyzed by copper(I) salts.

ArN2+ + CuBr → ArBr + N2 + Cu+

On the picture and gifs the solution of copper(I)-bromide is being added to the chilled, freshly prepared diazonium salt solution and as the the two reactants mix, almost instantly nitrogen gas forms and the reaction starts. 

Interesting thing is that the copper(I)-bromide is a colorless, nearly insoluble solid when pure, however when mixed with hydrobromic acid it dissolved rapidly and gives a deep purple colored solution as seen on the pictures.
