Fukuzawa picked up the papers, flipping them to the front.

“Wait! What are you doing?!” Yosano quickly snatched the papers away from.

He raised an eyebrow at her. “I’m reading them over?”

“Oh, you don’t have to do that,” she rushed, absolutely not suspiciously at all. “You can just sign them without reading them.”

‘I’m pretty sure I should read documents before I sign them,” Fukuzawa said, sounding somewhat amused.

“Uhhh…” Time seemed to freeze as Yosano saw Fukuzawa begin to look back at the documents. And then she panicked. “I’m going to go now!”

Before Fukuzawa could read what the documents were about, she clutched them close to her chest and quickly hurried out of the room before things could get too awkward.

 Or: Ranpo and Yosano try to trick Fukuzawa to sign adoption papers without him finding out until they’re already in effect. This goes as well as it could be expected.

Or or: the author decided there was A) a lack of fics where Fukuzawa adopts his kids, B) a lack of fics where Ranpo and Yosano are chaotic teen sibling, and C) a lack of fics where Fukuzawa has a heart-to-heart with BOTH Yosano and Ranpo

I hought I would finish this fic way sooner than I would, but alas August passed and it was not done then

On the bright side, I finally completed it!

Gonna post it soon after editing it, but imma do that in the morning because it is midnight for me and I am weak. But! I can give a sneak peek!

It’s called “Siblings in Spirit (And Paperwork)” and it has ALL of that Dad Fukuzawa(TM) content and contains PEAK Ranpo and Yosano sibling bonding. I’ll put a short snippet it under the cut that I was going to use parts of for the summary anyways!

“You should do it.”

“No way!” Ranpo protested immediately. He gestured widely towards the door to Fukuzawa’s office. While the glass was frosted in a way that he couldn’t see too far inside, he knew Fukuzawa was sitting at his desk. “You should do it!”

Yosano put her hands on her hips. “No. You.”

“No! You!”

“No. Y—” Yosano cut herself off and paused, thinking for a moment. “You know what? We’re getting nowhere with this. I say we both need to calm down and talk this through again.”

“‘We both need to calm down’? Yeah, right. I’m the one who’s being rational here. I think you need to take a moment to think things through.”

“Oh?” She crossed her arms. “And why do you think that?”

“Because you wrote the papers in the first place. So since you’re the one who wrote them, that means you should give them to him.” Ranpo the pointed to the papers in Yosano’s hand. “Plus, you’re already holding them.”

She huffed and shoved the papers into Ranpo’s hands. He was forced to grab onto them to prevent them from falling onto the floor. He attempted to force her to take them back, but when that failed, he settled for simply glaring at her.

“Those reasons don’t even make any sense. If we’re really going by who did what, then you should be the one to give him the papers,” Yosano reasoned. “I already did the work by writing them. You can do your part by giving them to him. It’s only fair.”

“But it’s not about what’s fair,” Ranpo claimed. He had started to try and give Yosano the papers back. He was failing. “It’s about what we need to do for the plan to work. And believe me, it absolutely pains me to say this but…” Ranpo’s tone indicated anything but. “It would be a thousand times better if you were the one to do it.”

“Now you’re just making things up. It would be better if you gave them to him.”

Ranpo stared at Yosano. “No. You.”

“No.” Yosano stared back at him. “We are not going back to that.”

“Yes, we are.”

“No.”

“Yes. And I think you should be the one to do it.”

“No!”

“Yes!”

“You were here first,” Yosano blurted out.

“No— wait. What do you mean?” He squinted at her suspiciously. “What exactly is the point you're trying to make there?”

“Well, you’ve known Fukuzawa for longer than me. Obviously it would be better if you were the one who gave him the papers.”

“Yeah, but the whole point of this is that he doesn’t know what they’re for until it’s too late for him to change his mind, so we don’t need the emotional manipulation of me doing it,” Ranpo pointed out. “We’re meant to be discreet. Which really means you should be doing it.”

“Oh?”

“Yeah. You’re normally the one who gives him all of the paperwork, so it would be suspicious if I was suddenly giving him papers to sign.”

Yosano stared at him. And stared. And stared some more.

She was still staring as she glared and took the papers from Ranpo’s hands.

Ranpo cheered. “Ha ha! Yeah, that’s right! You’re the one who’s doing it!”

Yosano glared even harder before she ignored him by turning to face the door. As she entered, Ranpo leaned up against the door with his ear pressed up against it.

Fukuzawa looked up as she entered. “Yes?”

“I have some documents you need to sign. Preferably as soon as possible. As well as while I watch,” Yosano stated as she strolled towards Fukuzawa’s desk.

She watched him closely as she put the documents in front of him. She flipped through some of the pages before she reached the end, pointing to a box at the end of the page.

“Sign right here. Please,” she added after a moment.

Fukuzawa picked up the papers and flipped them back to the front.

“Wait! What are you doing?!” Yosano quickly snatched the papers away from him.

Been thinkin about a Poe, Ranpo, and Dazai trio friendship lately…

(Because I needed to bring some happiness to my life. Please I can’t read the manga I can’t find it online anywhere and I got my info through tumblr screenshots can someone please tell me what exactly tf is going on —)

Detective Gang™

They’re all so smart but also all dumbasses at the same

90% of the time, Poe has the singular shared Braincell of Common Sense

4% of the time the braincell is lost and Dazai is leading the investigation to find it. 4% of the time the braincell is still lost and Ranpo has to take over the investigation to find it

(2% is shared between Dazai and Ranpo. They’re smart, but they have no common sense at all compared to Poe. Who is also lacking in the common sense department btw, because a single braincell is still just a singular braincell)

Listen, working together they could solve ten cases in a second flat. But at the same time, them working together to shop at a store to get weekly groceries would result in a lifelong ban for all of them (at least until Poe bribed the store lol)

Any time the trio go anywhere, ever, Dazai is third wheeling in the background of Ranpoe and loves being dramatic about it. He constantly walks approximately five feet away from where Ranpo and Poe are hanging out to make his point more clear, takes his phone out, takes a pictures, and definitely captions it with something stupid to send to them later

Example:

Dazai: *sends an image of when they were all hanging out at the aquarium together. Ranpo and Poe are holding hands while standing in front of a touch tank, facing away from the camera and into the water. Dazai has the most disgruntled expression his face has the capability to create*

Dazai: Come to the aquarium, they said. It’ll be fun, they said.

Ranpo: Shut up. You got to touch a stingray of course you had fun

Poe: plus I bought you that 6 foot squid at the giftshop

Ranpo: Yeah, Poe bought you that squid. Who couldn’t have fun after that?!

Dazai: excuse you, “that squid” has a NAME!!!! Her name is Squidwardette

(Poe, Ranpo, and Dazai def fight over custody of said 6-foot Squidwardette on the weekends)

((“I bought her. Isn’t that like bringing her into the world? I should have custody on the weekends.”

“HEY! YOU DO NOT GET WEEKENDS! That’s leaving me with all of the parent responsibilities on weekdays while you have fun on weekends! It’s not fair!”

“Well, me and Poe are a couple and can provide more stability in her life! What do you bring to the table? Being a sad single parent who can’t even get lai—”

“DON’T YOU DARE FINISH THAT SENTENCE!!!!!!”))

Despite the teasing, they all equally respect each other so much.

Dazai canonically respects Ranpo due to his intelligence not being dependent on an ability. He meets Poe and learns that A) his ability is not linked to his intelligence but to things he writes and B) he was almost able to defeat Ranpo. Dazai also canonically is not able to follow Ranpo’s thought process and keep up with him in certain parts of detective cases.

(He probably saw Poe as just another person to provoke and get a rise out of in the beginning since Poe’s so introverted around strangers. But then Dazai witnessed one of Poe’s… ahem. Passionate declarations of how great he is and how he's going to beat Ranpo one day and how he and Ranpo are the GREATEST RIVALS to ever exist despite being good friends and Dazai thought to himself. Oh. Cool. This one’s insane as well. Nice.) (Also, Ranpo has good taste in men)

(And then they were good friends ever since)

Ranpo just respects the two people who can actually keep up with him. And that he can get along with. Those are basically the two requirements for gaining Ranpo’s respect.

Poe respects anyone who Ranpo respects. His respect grew even more when, after Ranpo had finished solving yet another one of his manuscripts, Dazai asked to read one (because he wanted to make sure Poe was actually worth his salt and not just lying). Dazai of course solves it (though taking longer than Ranpo). Poe was probably a little bit upset at first since yet another person was able to best him, but quickly reassured himself it was just because it was a quick mystery he wrote up since Ranpo wanted one, and not the book he had spent 6 whole years writing like Ranpo had solved the first time. After getting over his shock, he definitely respected Dazai way more than before.

They would all help bail another of their group out if they got into trouble.

Poe: literally bailing them all out of prison

Ranpo: will literally bail from Poe and Dazai if he thinks their current weekend plans are too stupid. Don’t worry, he’ll come back later when they inevitably get into trouble with some sort of plan to get them out

Dazai: can talk his way out of almost any situation. If he can’t talk his way out, he can always turn to murder

Poe, Ranpo, and Dazai would all (and actually have) help each other hide a body, no questions asked. I will not elaborate.

Finally, Ranpo responded. “Mixing the perfect substance known to sugar as the absolutely disgustingly tasting butter feels like a sin.”

“Mixing two ingredients together is generally how—”

“How baking works!” Ranpo interrupted. “Yes, yes, I know. You keep on talking to me about this stuff like I don’t understand when I obviously am a MASTER of baking.”

“Says the person who was going to dump the whole sugar bag in the bowl,” Poe muttered under his breath.

“EXCUSE ME!!! WHAT WAS THAT?!”

“Nothing,” Poe said hurriedly.

“I’ll have you know I metaphorically graduated top of my class in cake tasting and eating! And cakes are made through baking! Ergo, that indirectly makes me a master at baking.”

Welp, I finally finished a fic and got is all edited and everything! It’s ended up being over 6,000 words and I’m very proud of it :]

Saying this cause it’s not going to be posted until tomorrow because it takes me forever to format fics to fit Ao3 and right now I am very very tired. So. New fic is going to be posted in around 12-14 hours max depending on how long I sleep in for

Ranpo: and I tell myself, if I can survive living with those dumbass clowns, it means I can handle every problem.

Okay so I see that this is a tie and I just asked the person who beta reads all my stuff which one between the two she likes better since, y’know, she’s gonna be the one who’s going to have to read it in the end and she choose the vanilla extract Ranpoe baking a cake one! (Which, she doesn’t have tumblr. She doesn’t know about the whole vanilla extract thing. Why why why why—)

I’ll end up writing the not friends anymore one eventually, but just going to write the cake one first! Writers block has been HITING HARD since I finished my last work so while I am planning on writing both, they’re going to be posted in a less-than-timely manner. I’ll see if I can at least get the cake one out by next week, but we’ll just have to wait and see how everything works out

(Also to all the people who voted a quote/fic idea that wasn’t those two, it’s not like I’m going to abandon those ideas completely! ADA team bonding headcanons!

They host team bonding events every other week

They are very chaotic

But there is lots of Bonding™ that happens at them!!

They alternate between teams and every person for themselves games

Teams are randomized each time

(Or at least that’s what they like to think. Somehow Ranpo and Fukuzawa are always on the same team. This is absolutely not because Ranpo is rigging the randomization system. Again. Absolutely not that reason)

They also rotate between the people who are in charge of choosing the games

Dazai is not included in the rotation. He was banned when he picked a horrible team bonding game. (He had picked Monopoly. The building was almost burned down)

Ranpo is also not in the rotation. The games he picks are always way too hard and he’s the only one who ever wins. (He purposely picked ones that he could win)

Yosano is also not included in the rotation of people who pick the activity. She once had them dissect a frog. Great for classroom lessons, not so great for the ADA members who (despite being very used to dead human bodies) either a) cried, b) fainted, a) mourned the loss of the frog’s life (similar to cried but they also took the extra step of making a memorial), or d) laughed and cackled madly while they dissected the frog with way too much enthusiasm

Atsushi is banned from choosing the activity. He brings down the mood by talking about his tragic past and all of the ‘games’ that he played at the orphanage (just how other people bullied him). It’s not his fault, it’s just that’s How He Is.

Kenji is banned because he always brought a cow, pig, and/or other farm animal for the game. It was fine at first, but then the food cost for them was getting way too high

Kyouka is banned from picking the game. She had picked games other people had asked her to. (other people = Dazai, Ranpo, Yosano)

In the end, this leaves only Fukuzawa and Kunikida in the rotation

Everyone always complains about team bonding, but they end up enjoying themselves when it actually happens

And they all get closer and Bond™ during them!
