Posts that "helpfully" point out that resin-cast dice aren't balanced due to flaws in the resin are annoying and also super unhelpful.

Because neither are your mass-produced dice.

I don't see hundreds of posts about your mass produced Chessex or Crystal Cast being slightly unbalanced. Which they are. Scientifically, the only way you're going to get true random precision is the first few rolls of dice used in casinos. And those dice don't last long before they're boxed off and sold at a discount because they're no longer fully and scientifically random after that.

But that's not something these so-called helpful posts ever bring up. Yes, resin dice sometimes have inclusions that affect the weight and balance in minuscule ways, but not enough to truly affect the margin of error of the dice. And if dicemakers do have heavier inclusions like ball bearings or whatever, they're up front about what's in the dice.

So here's what grinds my gears: by making these posts, people are saying "Don't buy handcrafted dice, they're NoT bAlAnCeD," which is incredibly hypocritical when they're using dice that are equally unfair, and acting smug about it. I absolutely lost it on a random post that flitted across my dash the other day because of this. Dicecrafters work hard to hone their skill, to make better and better dice, to learn their trade, only to be shot down by people who have no idea how it all truly works.

You want truly random outcomes in your D&D games? Get a dice tower. Until then, stop holding dicecrafters to impossible standards that you don't hold your mass produced companies up to.
