THOSE SMITH TAGS! You are incredible at this, I absolutely love this blog, and those smith tags have absolutely killed me. Do you think he ever searches for that feeling at the bottom of the harbor, wraps himself in sea-weeds and oil slick and closes his eyes and pretends it's all his?

Awh, thank you so much for such a lovely message! I'm sure I speak on behalf of all three of us when I say it's really exciting to know you're enjoying our tags! (Also, I won't lie, it makes my day when someone else feels the same UMY feels I do!)

As for Smith, absolutely!! That's heartbreaking- Trott and Ross probably assume he's gone off hunting and have no idea he's curled up pretending to have somewhere sort of like his old home. I don't imagine he minds the pollution in the city most days, but sometimes he probably resents the harbour's salt water and drifting oils and the noise and the other beings and remembers the tranquillity of highland rivers and water fresher than anything he's tasted before or since.

Of course, it probably takes Smith a while to realise he does have somewhere that's absolutely his and safe and beautiful, and it's the shitty little flat he shares with Trott and Ross, where they've painted and drawn on the walls and their stuff is strewn everywhere and they can say and do what they like. And it probably takes him a little longer to realise it's not the flat that's special, it's the three of them. It's not much, their little broken misfit gang, but it just might be the best home he's had. (Whether or not you ship the Hats in a romantic sense, I really love the idea of them finding a kind of fulfilment in their relationships with each other that they wouldn't have otherwise.)
