Day 4: Obsession - Codependency/Incest Kink/Fake Dating

I goofed and am making my DickTim fics too long. Here is a spoiler of what should have been day three and is now a combination Day 3 & Day 6 fic:

There are protocols for dimension travel. Protocols he’s had beaten into his head since he was twelve and the Justice League had their first run in with an alternate. He remembers being quizzed on procedure over breakfast.

He should stay in costume with his mask on. He should get away, isolate to avoid any more distortions than necessary, and either wait for pick up or -- once the allotted week has passed -- make his way to Gotham and the closest Bat if present. And if Batman is not around, he should aim for the Justice League or any friendly face he can find.

Much to his imaginary Bruce’s displeasure, he does none of this.

Instead, he lets his mother bully him into a new set of clothes, clearly pilfered from his father’s closet if the loose bootcut jeans and faded hockey jersey are anything to go off of, and accepts a backpack to store his costume and various weapons.

(His mother’s face when he’d pulled his sixth knife from his boot had been a little funny.)

He then lets her force him to the kitchen table where she sets a glass of water and two turkey and cheese sandwiches on a plate, nodding faintly when she asks him to stay, before watching her leave the trailer, shutting the door with a resounding thud.

He pulls out his mask just long enough to confirm the lack of any known poisons, certain that Tim will be proud of his paranoia, before taking a bite. He thinks it should feel more magical, more significant, just… more. This is the first home cooked meal he’s eaten that has been prepared by his mother in fourteen years. That should mean something. Instead, it's just a turkey and cheese on rye with not enough mustard or mayo to make up for the slight dryness of the bread. Alfred would know to add an extra smear of mustard and a thick slice of tomato if they had any.

He eats his sandwich with procedural efficiency and tries not to think about Alfred knowing him better than his mother even if it makes all the sense in the world.
