D.I.C.E. Plural / System App Review Episode 1
Plural Log
ok so right off the bat, i enjoy that the bottom of it has two tabs, the top row being; home, chat, switch, journal, insight. the bottom being; members, polls, settings
it also has a system name as an optional thing, which is useful for those who don't have a system name i think..
unfortunately for Plural Log, it doesn't look like you can import from your SP?
i tried with my SP file, it said the members were uploaded, however none appeared—this may be an issue with the amount i tried to import, which was in the 100's, so keep that in mind for larger systems.
Profiles
something i REALLY enjoy is that it lets you add sub-systems, which is extremely useful
and they show up under the subsystem host, indented
though something that confuses me is the ability to add a subsystem to a member already part of a subsystem...
how far can you go with this sub system ception? idk, i'm too scared to test it...
for me, a complete profile looks like this
(p.s. i'm not sure how to keep the image from cutting off like that)
Custom fields
you can add custom fields with this little button up here (and the plus button to log an alter)
when creating a new custom field, you get these options
i want this to be known, text just means plan text, which also means you can't create a new row by typing in "return"/"enter", so i'd recommend just selecting markdown.
another thing to note is that once you select these setting and name the custom field, you cannot change it. you have to delete and create a new one which gave me a bit of trouble
Switches
when registering switches on the "switch" menu, you tap who's in main front, then hold down on those you want to add to co-front, then click the "log switch" button to log it
to just switch out one member without logging a whole new switch, you just tap the active switch and it opens a thing where you can update it
here's a reference of my current switch history while trying to figure this out
Journal
when making a journal entry, you select who's writing it, as well as how you're feeling when making it!!! unfortunately you can only select one member as the author, so i'd say maybe in the actual writing section, you note if this was co-written by anyone else
Chats
chats work basically the same as SP. you have your channels, and select whos talking when sending messages!
unfortunately it doesn't put those in front first on the list, so it's gonna be a hassle for larger systems trying to scroll to the right member
Polls
polls work the same on Plural Log as they do on SP
Insights
this just tells you how many switches you've had, how many system members, journal entries, and frequent fronters
Flaws?
- no social feature in the app, you need a separate app for that which is only available for android, so i cant say how well it works or how to even work it
- limited customization when it comes to like..the colors. there's only a select few to pick from
- no accessibility setting such as fonts and font sizes, or light / dark mode switching
Final Verdict
i'd say it's a good app for the basic functions. if you aren't big on customizing and having others have access to your alters profiles and just want a place to log your alters, then this is a perfect app as its offline. once the social app comes out for IOS, i'll to a review on that too to see how it works for me
